LaserFiche NLM Archives Building Codes

International Conference of Building Officials Going Paperless

TORRANCE, California, June 19, 1995 - Compulink Management Center, Inc.,
announces today that the International Conference of Building Officials
has successfully implemented an electronic filing system using LaserFiche
NLM/Windows and NetWare 4. ViaTRON Systems of Torrance, CA, integrated the
LaserFiche client/server document imaging package with optical storage,
NetWare Connect, and Compulink's ReadyFax fax-on-demand software.

"We have been very pleased with how well LaserFiche has fit into our
organizational goals," said Ceremony Chap, Systems Administrator for the
ICBO. "I've been researching document imaging since 1992, so I've seen a
lot of packages. We needed an imaging system that would handle high
volumes of paper, put us on the cutting edge of technology, and still be
easy to use, so ViaTRON helped us settle on a combination of LaserFiche
NLM and a 250-user NetWare 4.1 license as the best solution. Now when our
engineers or customers need a document, we can find it instantly amongst
thousands of pages."

"Our scanning operator, Terry, is extremely excited about LaserFiche,"
continued Chap. "Projects that used to take five hours for Terry to
microfilm can be scanned in just one hour, resulting in tremendous
savings." According to Chap, Compulink's LaserFiche NLM/Windows imaging
software was recently purchased to store the hundreds of reports that the
ICBO and ICBO Evaluation Service produce each year. Previously all
information was archived on microfiche, which made searching for specific
information extremely difficult, and caused Chap to begin searching for a
new archival system.

The International Conference of Building Officials is a nonprofit service
organization which publishes, maintains and promotes the Uniform Building
Code and its related documents. As a subsidiary corporation of ICBO, the
ICBO Evaluation Service was established to evaluate alternate materials
and methods of construction, and confirm that products comply with the
Uniform Building Code.

"LaserFiche is easy to use and Compulink gives us excellent support. These
are the two key reasons we like the package," explained Kala Devan,
President of ViaTRON systems. "Most users don't like a package which looks
too technical, but when we install LaserFiche, it's so intuitive that soon
everybody is using it. We deal with many large vendors, and Compulink is
one of the best."

ViaTRON Systems has been providing LaserFiche document imaging solutions to
its clients for four years. ViaTRON is a systems integration company
specializing in electronic document management. ViaTRON Systems is located
at 370 South Crenshaw Blvd., Suite 200, Torrance, CA 90503, Telephone
(310) 787-4320.

LaserFiche document imaging has been selling since 1988, winning
LANMagazine's 1994 Imaging Product of the Year Award. LaserFiche NLM is
the only client-server imaging solution on Novell NetWare that includes
full-text search and an intuitive, easy-to-use GUI. Its client-server
architecture minimizes network traffic and delivers better data integrity
and faster search performance. In addition, the full-text search engine
uses fuzzy logic to insure that users will find the documents they are
looking for. Compulink's ReadyFax integrates LaserFiche with Copia
International's FaxFacts system to give outside users facsimile access to
LaserFiche.

LaserFiche software is priced from $495 for a stand-alone, and the
client/server network version ranges from $3,495 for an Entry Pack to
$44,995 for a 100-user Corporate Pack. The software is available through
authorized resellers and distributors worldwide. Compulink Management
Center, Inc., which develops and markets network document imaging
software, is also a Novell professional developer. CompuLink is
headquartered at 370 S. Crenshaw Blvd., Suite E-106, Torrance, CA,
Telephone (310) 212-5465.
