CI Labs Announces New Members

Vendor-neutral association gains momentum as ISVs prepare components for
OpenDoc

NEW YORK - at PC EXPO in New York - June 20, 1995 - Component Integration
Laboratories, Inc. (CI Labs) today announced the addition of 25 new
members to the organization. CI Labs, the vendor-neutral association which
promotes the OpenDoc standard for component software, is growing rapidly
in the anticipation of final OpenDoc Software Development Kits (SDKs)
scheduled to ship later this year. All new members intend to support
OpenDoc in future versions of their products.

Companies are joining CI Labs to lead the delivery of component software
specifically OpenDoc - to the computer industry. These companies
understand the need for a non-proprietary open solution for
interoperability between applications and platforms. CI Labs and OpenDoc
provide this solution and allow smaller ISVs the opportunity to drive the
evolution of the component market and foster the next wave of innovation
in the industry.

"In order for the evolving component marketplace to be successful, an open,
nonproprietary standard must exist," said Dave Pollak, President of Athena
Design, Inc. "OpenDoc is the only true component software architecture
capable of meeting the demands of a competitive market. We are very
excited to support and influence OpenDoc development through our
membership in CI Labs."

CI Labs members are currently preparing for the final OpenDoc release later
this year. The OpenDoc SDKs for Windows, OS/2 Warp, and Mac OS are
available and components will be ready to ship with the final release of
OpenDoc. "We evaluated architectures and found the component model the
next logical step in the evolution of computing," states Ray Kingman,
President of DeltaPoint, Inc. "Membership in CI Labs gives us the ability
to be a leader in the emerging component market. Using OpenDoc we can
insure our components will work with today's environments as well as those
of the future.

New Membership Levels Attract Developers

The associate and subscriber memberships were announced April 24, 1995 to
open the door for a wider range of industry organizations to contribute
their own innovations and expertise to the OpenDoc standard. "Smaller ISVs
have been extremely receptive to the new membership levels," said Jed
Harris, President of CI Labs. "The new levels are enabling developers who
have the greatest need for OpenDoc to participate in its evolution."

Associate members can participate in work groups and task forces, and
receive basic membership benefits, which include discounts on CI Labs
services and a listing in the CI Labs component catalogue and developer
directory. CI Labs intends to allow associate members to license the
OpenDoc source code.

Subscribers will receive regular updates on OpenDoc - news, development
tips, marketing opportunities, and technical updates. Subscriber
membership also includes discounts on CI Labs services and listing in the
CI Labs component catalogue and developer directory.

CI Labs: The Open Industry Forum for OpenDoc Technology

CI Labs is a vendor-neutral industry association promoting software
integration and component software. CI Labs' OpenDoc component software
architecture provides software integration that enables distributed,
cross-platform component software and brings a new level of computing
power to users. CI Labs will openly offer reference source code, technical
documentation, example software and validation services.

CI Labs' sponsors -- Adobe Systems Inc., Apple Computer, Inc., IBM
Corporation and Novell, Inc. -- have provided significant financial
