Cardiff Software Releases New Technology with a Remarkable Gain in
Recognition Accuracy

Teleform Version 4 With Tri-CR Is The First Forms Processing Package To
Build Voting Technology Into Forms Processing

Carlsbad, CA, April 24, 1995--Cardiff Software, Inc., developers of award
winning Teleform automated forms processing software, announced its latest
release today. Teleform for Windows Version 4 builds on its tradition of
delivering superior performance at an affordable price. Teleform now
includes Cardiff's revolutionary Tri-CRT. Tri-CR uses three sophisticated
recognition technologies working together to produce unprecedented
accuracy for reading hand print information. Whether processing surveys,
time cards, order forms or registrations, Teleform Version 4 makes
traditional data entry obsolete.

Thousands of organizations worldwide currently use Teleform to reduce data
entry costs and cut turnaround time. Teleform lets users create custom
forms for their specific data collection application, then interprets hand
print, machine print, bar code and optical mark recognition bubbles on
returned, completed forms received by fax or scanner.

The most significant feature of version 4 is Tri-CR. In addition to
combining the results of three OCR/ICR recognition engines, Teleform
Version 4 applies artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic and advanced
analysis procedures to produce accuracy unequaled by any stand-alone ICR
engine, such as Nestor. "Accuracy has always been the biggest hurdle
facing automated forms processing," said Joseph Larson, President of
Cardiff Software. "We developed Tri-CR to address this concern directly.
By combining three unique recognition technologies, each with different
strengths and weaknesses, the results have been phenomenal." Value-added
reseller, Bruce Genger stated, "As an end user, l would never look at a
product with only one ICR or OCR engine again. A stand alone ICR or OCR
engine can only achieve a limited percentage of correct recognition.
Teleform voting engines clearly deliver superior recognition and provide a
solution that is unavailable from any others on the market."

In a blind comparison between Nestor Version 2 and Tri-CR, results
indicated up to 300% improvement in recognition accuracy. The tests were
conducted by statistician Dr. John Geist, formerly with the National
Institute of Standards and Technology and renowned authority on OCR
systems accuracy for hand print.

Another first in Teleform Version 4 is the inclusion of SecureRead zone
patterns for encoding data into a form. Teleform generates a secure
pattern that can hold up to 2 pages of text in a 2" X 5" SecureRead field.
When scanned or faxed in, the SecureRead pattern is read with 100%
accuracy. For example, an employee's name, address and other detailed,
confidential information could be embedded into the company payroll form
and automatically processed with 100% accuracy directly to the database
but would remain hidden from unwanted observation.

Teleform's new bar code support is unparalleled. Teleform allows users to
generate bar codes in a Teleform form and read the bar code when it is
later faxed or scanned in. "Teleform is the first forms processing package
to offer both the printing and reading sides of the bar code equation. The
bar code is easily produced in the Teleform Designer and automatically
read into the database by the Teleform Reader," said Dennis Clerke, Vice
President of Cardiff Sales and Marketing.

Other notable advancements include batch scanning support, new database
support and many other new features in the Teleform Designer, Verifier and
BasicScript language.

Teleform is sold in a MultiUser and single user packages. Each user license
is $1495. The price to upgrade from Version 3 to Version 4 is $299.
Teleform Version 4 will ship in May, 1995.
