UNIX EXPO INTRODUCES OBJECT-ORIENTED TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

The Reality and Future Vision of Object-Oriented Technologies to be
Explored in Special All-Day Symposium on Sept. 18; McCaw Cellular
Executive to Deliver Symposium Keynote Address

(New York, NY, June 20) -- UNIX EXPO will launch its first Object-Oriented
Technology Symposium to provide show attendees with an unprecedented
full-day conference program that will explore this expanding technology.
The Object-Oriented Technology Symposium will take place on Monday,
September 18, in conjunction with the Twelfth Annual UNIX EXPO September
19-21, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Anne Peter will be the co-chair for the Object-Oriented Technology
Symposium. She is president of The Instruction Set, Inc., an international
technical training and consulting firm with its headquarters in Boston,
Massachusetts. The other co-chair for the Object-Oriented Technology
Symposium, will be Rikki Kirzner, technology editor of Open Computing,
based in San Francisco, CA. Both are members of the UNIX EXPO 1995 Program
Committee.

"Organizations in almost every industry sector are using object technology
to solve challenging business problems," explained Ms. Peter. "They use
object-oriented techniques to model the real world and facilitate joint
application development, and use object-oriented tools to produce reusable
and maintainable code. Object-oriented concepts and technologies also
address complex and large-scale co-existence and management issues. Any
organization that continues to ignore object technology is likely to find
itself overtaken by its competitors within the next five years."

The Object-Oriented Technology Symposium, on September 18, will open with a
keynote presentation by Ingvar Petursson, vice president and chief
information officer for McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc., based in
Kirkland, WA. The keynote will be followed by technology briefings on
object-oriented analysis and design methodologies, development
environments and tools, object databases, emerging standards, and future
trends. In addition, case studies will be presented on four key
object-oriented topics: the realities of reusability; using
object-oriented concepts in a legacy environment; selection and use of the
right development environment; and re-engineering the IS organization for
object-oriented development.

In addition to the new Object-Oriented Technology Symposium, three new
seminar tracks have been added to the UNIX EXPO corporate education
program -- Enterprise Integration, Object-Oriented Technology, and
Client/Server Applications. The conference program will also address
management issues, system and network administration, the Internet,
databases and networking data technology. The complete UNIX EXPO Corporate
Education and Training program will consist of 62 seminars, 17 tutorials
and 10 workshops.

The UNIX EXPO show floor will feature more than 400 exhibitors showcasing
all aspects of UNIX/Open Systems computing, including hardware, software,
object-oriented technologies and enterprise-wide interoperability
solutions. With its expanded exploration of object-oriented technology,
the UNIX EXPO show directory will include a full listing of object
oriented products from exhibitors on the show floor. The UNIX EXPO show
floor will also feature expanded pavilions showcasing the Internet, as
well as Windows NT Integration.

Exhibitors at UNIX EXPO will include: American Power Conversion, AT&T, BBN
Planet, ClariNet, Computer Associates, Data General, Digital Equipment
Corp., Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Information Builders, JYACC,
Microsoft, NetManage, Novell, O'Reilly & Associates, Open Software
Foundation, Pencom, Performance Systems International, Quarterdeck,
