Macintosh Platform Momentum Accelerates as Apple Debuts New Products and
Programs for Business Customers at PC Expo '95

PC EXPO, New York, New York--June 20, 1995--Apple Computer storms New York
and PC Expo this week with an arsenal of announcements and showcase
activities that underscore the Macintosh platform's continued technology
leadership and highlights its position as the industry's leading
alternative computing platform.

Included in the announcements were: The debut of the most powerful and
expandable Macintosh offered by the company to date, a groundbreaking
cross-platform color laser printer, and a truly portable color inkjet
printer on display at PC Expo '95 in New York this week. In addition,
Apple President and CEO Michael Spindler will participate in a special
address on OpenDoc, and Mr. Spindler will announce the winners of the
Apple Enterprise Awards competition.

"We believe the Macintosh platform is ahead of its competitors in terms of
technology advancements, and in developing customer-focused, integrated
solutions," said Michael Spindler, Apple President and CEO. "Here at PC
Expo, we look forward to demonstrating new products and solutions that
will extend the competitiveness and usefulness of the Macintosh platform
for business customers. We will also highlight the broad support for the
platform from the third-party vendor community. We are especially pleased
to be able to showcase how we continue to make it possible for our
customers--in this case, business customers--to develop and deploy,
exemplary in-house applications with this technology that makes their jobs
easier, and their organizations more productive."

An overview of this week's announcements includes:

* New Power Macintosh Computer and Printing Products. On June 19, Apple
launched the most powerful and expandable Macintosh offered to date, the
Power Macintosh 9500. The latest member of the Power Macintosh family,
based on the powerful next generation Peripheral Connect Interface (PCI)
and the new 604 PowerPC microprocessor chip, cements Apple's leadership in
RISC-based personal computers. Other product announcements include a suite
of printing products, including a cross-platform color laser printer, and
a truly portable color inkjet printer. The combination of the Power
Macintosh and color printer products provide solutions that will
specifically boost the Macintosh platform offerings for professional users
in publishing, technical and media authoring.

In addition, the new Mac OS networking and communications system, Apple
Open Transport Version 1.0, will ship as a component of the Mac OS on the
Power Mac 9500. Open Transport is based on industry standards and will
bring a new level of networking connectivity, control and compatibility to
Macintosh customers.

* Robust developer support for the Power Macintosh Platform. As developer
support for the Power Macintosh continues to grow at an impressive rate,
Apple detailed the ever-broadening list of developers committed to
PCI-based Power Macintosh development. At PC Expo, Apple and third parties
will be demonstrating many of the more than 750 native applications that
have been optimized to take advantage of the PowerPC processor.

The move to a high speed PCI bus provides Power Mac 9500 customers with
significant performance gains and greater access to customized personal
computing solutions such as graphics acceleration, digital video editing
and high speed networking via low cost PCI cards. Forty vendors have
announced support for Power Macintosh 9500 and many will be displaying
their offerings at PC Expo.

* OpenDoc Special Address and OpenDoc Pavilion. On Tuesday, June 20 at 1:00
p.m. Michael Spindler, CEO and President, Apple Computer, Inc., Bob
Frankenberg, CEO and President, Novell, Inc. and John Thompson, Senior
Vice President and Group Executive, IBM Corporation will deliver a special
address discussing how components based on OpenDoc, the industry standard
for component software, will simplify today's multi-platform computing
environment. This activity will be held in the Special Events Room at
Javits Convention Center. A showcase of OpenDoc component software will be
on display by Apple, IBM, Novell and other software vendors in the OpenDoc
Pavilion, Booth 1201, Level 1 immediately following the OpenDoc special
address.

* Apple Enterprise Awards. Sponsored by Apple and Computerworld, and
co-sponsored by MacIS, this contest honors custom, not-for-resale
applications created by independent developers at some of the largest
organizations in the world. Categories include client/server, cross
platform, publishing, multimedia and communication and collaboration.

Michael Spindler, Apple President and CEO, and Gary Beach President,
Computerworld, will introduce the winning developers and applications at
the Apple Enterprise Awards ceremony Wednesday, June 21 at 4:0.0 p.m. in
the Special Events Hall at Javits Convention Center. The applications
software of the twenty-seven finalists will be on display throughout the
show in booth #225.

* Power Macintosh/Lotus Notes Bundle. Apple and Lotus Development Corp.
announce the bundling of Lotus Notes Express release 3.3.1 with Power
Macintosh computers purchased as of June 19, 1995. The bundle includes the
complete Notes Express product, along with two applications and five Notes
databases developed exclusively for this bundle.

* Developer Seminar Series Covering Multimedia, OpenDoc, Cross Platform and
more. Apple will host a series of free seminars to highlight business
opportunities available on the Macintosh platform for Windows applications
developers on June 21 and 22. Topics covered will be OpenDoc and OLE
Interoperability, Making Money Developing Cross-Platform Multimedia,
Client/Server Tools for the Enterprise, Powersoft Corporation Seminar,
Developing For the Future Mac OS, and Desktop Application Development:
Macintosh and Windows.
