------------------ Quest FE 0.93 Beta ------------------

! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! NOTICE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
This is a beta release and as such does not provide any
guarantees as to the performance of this software. Use
this program at your own risk. There...now go make some
neet-o maps for Quake so you can kill in style! :^)

-------------------- Author's Notes ---------------------
Quest FE is a Windows front end written to work with Quest
v2.1 and higher. Quest 2 is written by Alexander Malmberg
<martin.malmberg@helsingborg.mail.telia.com>. Any
questions, comments or bug reports concerning Quest should
be directed to him. Correspondence concerning Quest FE
should be directed to Bron Davies <brono@tracy.com>.
Original Quest design by Trey Harrison and Chris Carollo.

----------------------- Features ------------------------
--Version 0.93
     - New UI format. This is much less cluttered and
allows FE to be more flexible. It also helps keep
things in a useable amount of space - 640x480 users
were about to loose the top and bottom.
     - Fixed the textures list problems. Now the UI should
coincide better with how Quest works.
     - Extra error handling....woopie!

--Version 0.92
     - Added support for profiles. This feature is not
(as of yet) directly supported by Quest for DOS.
But it does allow you to create several different
sets of settings for Quest to use and Quest FE will
load them up for you automatically. For more infor-
mation on profiles and their use, see PROFILES.TXT
       included with this zip file.

--Version 0.91
     - Use windows GUI to set preferences for Quest. Loads
up the associated CFG file for Quest and allows you
to view/change the values unless the setting is not
recognized. Unrecognized settings are still written
out and preserved but you cannot change in the Quest
       FE GUI.
     - Automatic map backups. Searches your backups directory
for an existing backup and overwrites it or writes
out another backup using an extension in the form of
       ".###" starting with .001
     - Register map files to be associated with Quest through
Quest FE. Allows you to double-click on any supported
map file and open it in Quest
     - Drag-n-drop file opening. Just drag supported map
files onto the Quest FE icon (up to 5) and they will
       be automatically loaded into Quest.
     - Automatically load a video driver prior to launching
Quest. This is useful for people who own video cards
that don't have native VESA support. Otherwise leave
       this blank.

--------------------- Release Notes ----------------------
--Version 0.93
Fixed:
     - New UI format. This is much less cluttered and
allows FE to be more flexible. It also helps keep
things in a useable amount of space - 640x480 users
were about to loose the top and bottom.
     - The installer was missing comctl32.ocx somehow.
Fortunately this isn't a very important file for
most people because it's pretty common.
     - New texture source picker. Allows you to select a
set of texture sources which is more like what Quest
is looking for. Before you couldn't select multiple
       files or directories.
Bugs:
    - If you have a setting in the "extra settings" list
that is not supported by Quest then Quest probably
      won't start.

Coming Soon:
    - Lots of e-mail from people who found the easter-egg
and want to meet the babe.
    - Lots of $$$ from people who love this project!
    - A Win95/NT port of Quest + a huge headache!

--Version 0.92
Fixed:
     - PAK and WAD file texture loading. This isn't really
important but now you can see the names of the
textures in the PAK or WAD file you have chosen for
       your default texture source.
     - Fixed another bug in the map backups process. Should
       work every time now.
     - Ocassionally, Quest would start up and then go back
to windows, particularly on slower systems. I think
I have put an end to this.
     - When you selected a BAT file for the video driver to
load before running Quest, it would switch to that BAT
file and run without returning control to the
quest_fe.bat. Now 'CALL' has been placed on this line
in the BAT file so that it will return control to the
main BAT file and continue to load Quest.

Bugs:
     - Not saving complete texture settings. Right now it
can only save ONE texture source(a PAK file, WAD file
or texture subdirectory) I think Quest can handle
       more than that... Alex?

Coming Soon:
     - New dialog that will allow you to change all the
settings which are not directly supported by Quest FE.
     - More advanced texture source selection.

--Version 0.91
Fixed:
     - Was unable to load if quest.cfg was not found in the
       same directory as quest.exe.
     - Auto backups were not happening after a drag-drop.

Bugs:
     - Default texture setting doesn't load any texture names
       from the texture source.

Coming Soon:
     - User defined profiles allowing you to open a map file
with all the right settings just by double-clicking
its icon. I'm working with Alex to see what the best
way is to do this since he has his own way of handling
       this sort of thing.
