=============================================================================
STARSHIP TROOPERS TC USERMAP PACKAGE, BGAME PRODUCTIONS 2000.
=============================================================================

Fellow Duke Nukem developers,

From the day one, SST TC was designed to serve as a great usermap and add-on
developing platform, and it was built that way. TC is filled with features -
some of which were not even presented with this release (!) and is actually a
whole new game.

Bgame encourages you to develop usermaps and additive mods and missions, all
of which will be equally presented on our site. We do not propose "conversions
of a conversion" though.

If you are interested in trying your skill on the biggest TC project ever, we
have some great tools to help you out. This "UserMap Package" - or UMP
contains replacement build art that makes it possible to access hidden sprites
and activators, which are not visible or usable in the normal TC art. It also
contains a *HUGE* MapFAQ explaining dozens of new features, example tutorial
maps, new names.h file and more tools for your building pleasure.

What you can do with this?

- use GAC (Global Ambient Colorizer) to change ambient lights
- have fun and boost your creativity with ladders and sparks
- create the best CTF map ever
- impose a time limit over your map
- give the final touch with WAV music and killer shock sounds

...options are endless... what about your imagination?

1. INSTALLATION
---------------

Simply copy all contents of SSTTCUMP.ZIP into your SST TC directory, and run
UMP.BAT to install.

2. UNINSTALLATION
-----------------

Delete all UMPxxx.ART files and STMAPFAQ subdirectory from your TC directory,
then make extra sure to delete SST_UMP.INS.

3. SST MAPFAQ
-------------

MapFAQ and sample maps will be installed into STMAPFAQ subdirectory of your
TC directory. Use notepad only to open STMapFAQ.txt.
If you have problems opening the maps in Build, copy them into the main TC
directory and try from there.

4. SSTSound UTILITY
-------------------

SSTSound will be installed into STMAPFAQ subdirectory of your TC directory.

Use it to select shock sounds and WAV music backgrounds. This utility will
tell you what sprite palette to apply on WAV music selector and/or sector
hitags for use with the shock sounds.

If you have not used Windows installation of the TC, this program won't work.
It reads location of WAV files from the SSTLauncher.ini file. If your system
does not have one; please copy SSTSound.exe to your main TC directory.

5. THE NEW TEMPLATE
-------------------

Will be placed into STMAPFAQ subdirectory of your TC directory, under the name
TEMPLATE.TXT. Simply edit all of the fields as appropriate.

6. PACKAGING AND SENDING THE MAPS TO BGAME
------------------------------------------

Step by step:

1. Finish your map.

2. Rename TEMPLATE.TXT to the name of your .map, and fill it out correctly.
Make sure to fill all fields of the PLAY INFORMATION section of it.

3. Add data files if you are using them (midis, sounds...).

4. ZIP your map, text file and data files together. Unzipped packages will not
   be accepted.

5. E-mail the zip file to moloch@3dportal.com

Thank you for your contribution!

7. LEVEL CREDITS LIST
---------------------

I have provided some extra stuff for your pleasure. In the STMAPFAQ directory
you can find TCMAPS.TXT files with info of all TC levels, their authors, some
tips, and my comment on them. A thing not to be missed by any real SST fan!
