                 Bgame Productions proudly presents:

           STARSHIP TROOPERS TC one-level demo (v1.3 only)
             http://www.dukeworld.com/starshiptroopers/

NOTE:
=====
The demo supports only v1.3 registered. Shareware won't work. Ppak
versions won't work either. Sorry.

Introduction:
=============
Starship Troopers is a FREE Total Conversion (currently for Duke Nukem 3D
only) add-on, based on the blockbuster movie "Starship Troopers" and book
under the same name written by Robert Anson Heinlein. It's a story about an
epic battle between the Terran Unity and Klendathu Arachnids, race of huge
insects.

TC Leader Opening Word
======================
Hi there. My name is Moloch and I stand behind the mess you are about to
play. Since this is not an official release, I won't be official in this
readme either. I just want to annoy you with my incoherent babbling. :)

Before you start, please READ THIS FILE TO THE END. Don't be a lazy
bastard, I made this very relaxed, very short and as fun as possible. So keep
reading and don't even think about that close button!

First of all, this demo is not intented to "show what have we done so far".
Oh no. This demo features only what I have scratched from the surface of the
SST TC with my fingernails. It has about 10% of the full cons, same goes for
the rest of the things. It has no new textures (except for the sky and some
minor stuff). Call us cheap and arrogant bastards (thank you, we ARE) but I
think you should wait for the full TC to get your hands on something REAL.

This demo was intented to give you a basic idea on what follows soon. Well
OK, a very basic idea.
I'm not inlcuding tons of readme files in this demo because:

- All you want to know is how to install and start the damn thing and start
  wasting the bugs.

- If you have this demo then you could get it from one place only, our
  website.

- Everything was said there - and I'm not going to repeat myself. If you got
  this demo from a different source, pay a visit to our cool site (URL to it
  is at the beginning and the end of this file) to get more information.

- I think the included level is very, very, very straight forward. It was
  done simple on purpose. This is what my main mapper wrote to you:

	I`m sorry about the rather poor quality on the level, but I was kinda on a deadline, and it`s hard to make a good level in a short
	period of time. :)

	C3PO
	Head map maker

You get the idea. C3P0 was kinda humble, this map is a killer. It's not big,
just to wake your thirst for more. Well, I hope you will have fun. If you do,
tell us. If you don't, tell us again.

What's actually in this demo
============================
 - 2 enemies (out of 5 new) - Warrior Bug and Hopper bug;
 - 2 weapons (out of 8 new)- Morita MK1 and Rotary Cannon
 - 1 Single player map

that about covers it. :)

Addendum
========
This demo does not replace the menu/game screens ( not all of them at least).
Full TC will replace the Status Bar, Menu (options, save/load) Screens, and
the new default font.

How to Install/UnInstall the demo
=================================
- Unzip the contents of the SSTDEMO2.ZIP into a dedicated Duke Nukem
  game directory (this is where the DUKE3D.EXE and GRP file are located).

- Run SST_DEMO.BAT. This will extract the SST TC demo files and backup
  original Duke Files.

To uninstall, run the SST_TC.BAT again.

How to play the demo
====================
I have not included a Windows Launcher to keep the size of the demo to a
minimum.

To run the demo, you can either:

  - Launch the game by running Duke3d.exe after the demo in installed

Once in game;

  - select START A NEW GAME

  - select LUNAR APOCALYPSE to play the demo map.

Due to some security concerns, episode names will not be changed in the
v1.3 versions. Last time I did this the demo had to be pulled off because
some anti-virus scanners misinterpreted the patch code as a virus. ;)

Difficulty setting is not important (didn't have enough time to implement it).

IMPORTANT: Once you complete the level and it fades out, don't hit space or
you'll miss the ending slideshow!

Demo Mission story
==================
The story depicted in this level happened almost 3 years before the story of
the full TC.

This was your first, and last mission with the first platoon you were
assigned to, Wolves. Their mission was to scout a new bug colony that
infected a long-time human colonized planet Nando. New colony was first
reported in the Plata mountains. Soon the whole planet was evacuated and
class 1 interstellar seal raised.

Out of 8 men that left the Skimmer, you were the only one that survived what
appeared to be a bug ambush containing sudden swarm of Warriors in the
foothill of the Plata mountain range.

Since the communications equipment was ripped apart together with their
owner, your only hope is to reach deserted Nando Primus, the closest city
from where you can call for a class 2 evac. Unfortunately, your ammo supply
is running short.

The mission begins as you discovered a small valley.
Nando Primus is about 11 clicks away from your current position.

Please tell us what you think
=============================
Your comments are what keeps this TC alive. After you've finished the demo,
e-mail us, and tell what you think about it. Last demo was pulled offline
because the Installer didn't work properly in same occasion. This time all
effort was done to avoid the problems. If you experience any problems,
contact us asap.

Tips
====
Since you were so cool to read this to the end, here are some hints if you
get stuck, ripped apart, destroyed, squashed or discouraged:

Not being paranoid in the SST TC is close to suicide. More precisely -
running like a little red riding hood will attract a lot of big bad wolfs. :)

Save ammo. In this demo, you will find some quantities of Morita clips and
Cannon rounds scattered around. In the full game, you won't be so lucky.
Remember, it takes a full Morita clip to down a Warrior bug.

Sometimes a Warrior bug is not as dead as it seems. Make extra sure that
once it's down, it stays down. If you wander upon a dead bug, fire a round at
it. If it's dead, you wasted a bullet. If it's alive, you saved a lot of hit
points.

Hoppers are bad news. Even the most experienced Troopers can be caught
of guard by one of these monstrosities. Once they attack, (you will recognize
their eerie shriek) find some cover or do a 180 degrees turn and fire away
with the Peacemaker. Stand still, and they could rip your head off.

Warning: spoiler! Don't read unless you are stuck!
If you are stuck at the bridge, explore the house and the area behind.

Warning: spoiler! Don't read unless you are stuck!
There's another tunnel in the house.
