                      DUKE-BLITZ ORGANTIC DOCUMENTATION

We are pleased to announce that the ORGANTIC (Organic Turret) creature which
3DRealms left unfinished in Duke Nukem 3D has now been brought to life.

Thanks to some very creative programming by SANDMAN plus sound effects by
WARLOCK, this beast is now fully awake and ready to kick some butt! Be sure
to give SANDMAN, WARLOCK and DUKE BLITZ (or DUKE BLITZ ATOMIC) credit if you
use ORGANTIC creatures or code in any of your maps or add-ons.

The creature looks as if it's meant to be a stationary, floor mounted item
but due to problems in the original code it's been turned into a ceiling
crawler with a *heavy* (11 health point decrease) sting! Try playing the
test map in the loader and looking in the mirror while ORGANTIC attacks.
You'll see just how the creature kills you!

In order to kill this monster you MUST aim manually and hit him dead-on.
If you try to depend on auto-aim, the projectiles just fly above or below
him. (This is with pistol/shotgun/chaingun. Other weapons may not require
such tight aiming). NOTE: This is a problem with the way the creature
was designed by 3D Realms and is NOT a bug in the BLITZ code!

                            MAP AUTHOR'S NOTES:

The organtic creature is placed by hanging it tentacle downwards from the
ceiling. In 3D builder mode, place the creature with the flat end against
a ceiling with tiny cylinder topknot showing, then page-up 4 times so the
flat end sinks into the ceiling.

Don't worry that the monster appears to be halfway buried in the ceiling,
when the map is played he'll appear to be just touching it with all of his
body showing.

The ORGANTIC will chase a player for any distance so long as he has a flat
surface to glide along. If you wish to keep him contained in a certain
area, create a two level ceiling.

Keep in mind the ORGANTIC seeks the highest point in the ceiling as he
glides along. Therefore, any indentation large enough for the monster to
slip up into will hold him at that spot.

Certain light fixtures or other ceiling indentations will act as barriers and
will stop him from gliding. Creating small indentations as ceiling "prisons"
are a good idea if you want to play the monster as a stationary threat.

Try putting the ORGANTIC at the top of an elevator shaft or clinging in the
shadows of a darkened hallway. We havn't tried him underwater, but that
might be interesting. The possiblities are endless.

PRECAUTIONS:

1. The ORGANTIC will not work mounted on the floor, He just sinks into the
floor and doesn't move or attack.

2. If you do not embed the monster 4 page-ups into the ceiling when placing,
he may be able to jump his prison walls during game play.

3. If the monster manages to get outdoors, he floats away into the sky and
hovers. This is because he seeks out the highest ceiling point he can
    find, as stated above.

4. Watch your ceiling heights. The monster will stay at ceiling level.
He will not descend to attack like the octa-brain does. Therefore
ceiling heights are important. If they're too high, the ORGANTIC
will not be able to reach and attack the player.

5. MOST IMPORTANTLY - You must have DUKE BLITZ (8 or above) loaded when
playing organtic enhanced maps. Otherwise the monster just hangs dead
from the ceiling and you'll get missing sound file errors as well.

A good idea is to state somewhere in your map docs that you've used
ORGANTICs and the map should be played using the DUKE BLITZ add-on.

ENJOY!
