file MUST be included within a .ZIP file along with the .CON files.

DESCRIPTION:

There are many many .CON files out there, what seperates these from
the rest...??? These kick ass! This is the ultimate in .CON file
changes, it doesn't just add a new feature or two, it creates a whole new
game. Some of the cooler features include the ability to become
fatally wounded, and enemies with different weapons.

Please note that although this is "Sheer Carnage" the blood and guts IS
kept to a minimum. I know it probably doesn't look like that when
you shoot a guy and his brain splats on the wall next to you, but it is
toned down quite a bit. The purpose of this patch is NOT for a bloodfest,
but realism. When you shoot a guy, a lot of blood comes out, but
not too much. And the purpose of half of the features (like fatal wounds,
duke getting hurt and spewing blood everywhere) are for DukeMatch. Sure,
spewing blood on the walls may look cool the first few times you do it
in single player mode, but I don't think the monsters are going to track
you down by pools of blood on the floor. Some other features had to be
toned down as well, such as the fire. I could have had fire everywhere,
but it would have slowed the game down drastically in single play, and
in DM it would be frozen for a few seconds when something blew up. If you
ever played UltraGore by Russell Collison you'd know what I mean. This
goes slow sometimes, on my P60 w/ 16 mbRAM, so all you 486 users that
have trouble keeping normal Duke running at a decent frame rate, say
hello to "bog city" .

USAGE:

So much for .GRP's....

You're going to have do this the old-fashioned way folks.

You need backups of your original .CONs (but you've got them on CD
anyway). Rename them to USER.BAK/GAME.BAK or something.

Then move these files into the Duke directory. Once you're sick of all
the crap I made, just rename the .CON files (the modified ones) to
USER.SC/GAME.SC just in case you want them sometime later. Then rename
your .BAK files to .CON files.

WHAT'S NEW IN 2.1?:

I don't think 2.0 even worked. You would just get dumped to DOS.
Well, obviously that wasn't something people wanted to download, so I
made this update. No more .GRP crap, it's all .CON files now. I had
a hidden message in the 2.0 GRP, too bad nobody saw it. Oh well, just gonna
have to make those damn .CON backups.

Here's a few of the cooler effects that went in 2.0 (now 2.1):

- Lots and lots of blood, but in the right proportions.

- Quake like atomic health. You'll see when you get it.

- Fatal wounds. The coolest effect to date in this, or any, .CON file.

- Flames atop the bloody mass that remains after an explosion blows up
  an entity.

- Troopers carry a pistol instead of a laser, and drop mortars from above

I also included a lot more prog notes, so if you're looking to see how
I did something you can read it on the side. I didn't do this for you
though, no offense, I just felt it was a lot easier for me so I would
know what the hell I just wrote if it was 2 a.m. (hey I'm not kidding,
I stayed up late for this crap)

Any suggestions for future versions should be sent to me on Compuserve at
103220,3302. If I use your idea, I will acknowledge you in the file.
Also if you're wondering how I did some of these effects send me an
e-mail too. I'll be happy to explain some of the effects (please don't
send me any stupid ones, like, how do I make it so my pistol is stronger?)

Please upload this everywhere you can on the internet and BBS's! Thanks!

And if you wanna start making some cool levels for Duke Nukem w/ BUILD,
check out my B-GUIDE.DOC. It's the MOST comprehensive file you can find
for help on the cool effects within levels (earthquakes, etc.) Don't
be fooled by imitations! Get the one, the only, B-GUIDE.DOC!

Thanks! And look for my upcoming Duke project (along w/ 4 other authors).
You'll know it when you see it. It is by "No Mercy" and the title is still
being worked on, although it's leaning towards "RETRIBUTION".
