 There are many cameos from different games and things not affiliated
 with 3drealms or myself. In ()'s is who has the copyright. ? means
 either I'm guessing, or I have no idea.

Here are the people I heartily thank in the creation of this level:

 Whoever owns the MW2 licensee. It was Activision,
 but they lost it and bought a Mech Clone called
 Heavy Gear. No 'ffence, but <gagging sound>
 it really sucks. I didn't buy it, but a friend
 of mine did, and I was wondering when it would
 actually got interesting. Never did find out.

 Mike "Pyro" Even,
 level tester.

 {Mike's a guy who only kills when it is honorable.
 (Yeah Mike. Don't deny it!!)
 He uses the level as a tool of destruction.

1: Who am I?

Well, I'm a high school student, a freshman. I live in Illinois.
I like computer games (duh) and I'm a PC game beta tester.
(Don't email me asking for copies for beta games!!)
I also like Paintball and anything else that I can have a great time
with other people.

My desktop (Windows 95 and in real life) is always cluttered,
and I am lucky to have less than 25 MB of space on it.
I rarely ever have over 155 MB free on my computer. I have
a P100 and 24 bit color. Newer user levels become a little slow,
but I can manage.

When I play a game, framerate really effects me, unlike my brother.
He could play a game with 2 FPS, and he'd be fine. Me? I like at least 50,
and that's a little choppy. But it don't really bother me untill I hit 25,
then I get mad.

When people ask me what I like, I reply fast: I like what I like!
That may sound strange, but it ain't, when ya think about it.
I don't like much classical music, but some I do. I like some Rap,
but not all. It's all a matter of feeling.

2: Anything interesting happen from your last level?

I have finally learned how to use a better painting program!
You may have guessed, but BATTLE.map's pictures were made
with Paintbrush that came with Win95.
Getting this program meant that I was able to convert
pictures from 24 bit color to 256 color a WHOLE lot better.
(The program is PhotoImpact. No, I'm not affiliated, just a happy
user)

3: How did you create this level?

Okay...here we go. But first I want to say this is my second level.
Battle.map, I don't know where it is. I gave it to a few people.
I didn't distribute it alot, since it was a DOOM conversion level.

Castle.map came along after BATTLE.MAP. It was about after I was putting
some work into a level that became vaporware. It was a stonehenge thing,
and it just came apart from the getgo. I made a stonehenge building, and
a joining room, and some machine, and I just thought: "Ugh. Screw this!"

For this level, the Clan Wolf ideas came from my brother, who used to be playing the
MechWarrior games lately alot, but now he's been playing TIE fighter. So have I.

This level is unlike my previous level in the fact it doesn't have as many
explosions. If you load BATTLE.MAP in BUILD, you can see that C-9
was the most abundant sprite. This one has SE's as the most abundant. Sure, C-9 is
second, but that's only about 4 explosions.

This level puts, at least on some levels, more realism. I have it
so that some things are not exactly perfect for Dukematch, but it's the
way it is in real life.

Example: I had to use a camera to simulate the player
looking out of a tank. You can't see much from the outside! if this were
a real tank, the tank would have to see what is ahead of it, not what is right
near it!

If a texture is a little off aligningwise, that's the way it should be.

This level has A WHOLE LOT of user textures, way more than BATTLE.MAP.

Note from 3-22:

You know how I said above that I've been playing MW2 alot? Don't worry!
That was just a brief phase. I haven't even thought of playing it in a long
while. :-)

Well. That's all I can think of right now.


4: Why did you create this level?

Well, I just got done with BATTLE.MAP, and I was, frankly, doubting
that I was going to play Duke anymore. I had been playing MechWarrior
2: Ghost Bear's Legacy a little bit off and on.

I was putzing around in GBL and I saw some kind of large center command
center. (For you fans of the game, it was the video when Ghost Bear's
genetic material is stolen by false Draconis Combine forces)
I was thinking: "Ya know, a big old castle or command center would be
great for a Dukematch level..." I always liked Clan Wolf, so it became that
Clan's castle.

In my Battle.map INFO.TXT I said that I don't like Dukematch levels that
were metal. I am changing it, as you could see that some of the textures
in this level are metal. I want to now say that I like metal, I don't
like the metal areas when they are _sterile_. You'll notice my metal
textures aren't always at the brightest they could be. Warriors of
Clan Wolf (and I'm pretty sure the other Clans too..) don't take time
to clean the walls. ;-)

6: History

Well, I don't want to bore you with this, and I don't remember alot
anyway. I just want to say that on 3-14-98, I changed the Castle's
texture and on 3-15 I made the Castle have a roof instead of an open
sky. Better.

On 3-14, I acquired a level from Robert Travis (rtravis1@earthlink.net)
called ANSLEM. It was kinda a castle level, and it inspired me to do
somethings I hadn't thought of in my castle. If you don't have ANSLEM
or any others of his levels, go get them!! They kick ass!!!!

During my Spring Break, I put some finishing touches on the level, so I
could post it on 4-6. But I'll probably spend a few days on the little things, so I'll
most likely post it 4-8 or 9.


5. Words you should know

This is kinda a section so everything you
read in the level isn't confusing.
These are mainly words from MechWarrior 2.

                 is kept in Clan Wolf's castle. He DNA was placed in 
                 Wolf's people, so most Wolf warriors are related to him.
12: Ward         An important guy in the Clans
                 (If you out there know what he did, please contact me!)
13: LRM 20       Hmm...You'd have one if your RPG fired 20 missiles at a time,
                 not to mention they were heat seeking!
14: SRM 6        Kinda like LRM, but they fire 6 in a row, they don't home,
                 but each missile if more powerful then an LRM!
15: Sinkball     This is not a MechWarrior thing. It's a game I found I
                 liked that was in my biology class. We have these huge black
                 tables in the room, with a little sink in the middle.
                 My teacher, Mr. Milligan, created a game in which you throw
                 small balls made of tape into the sink, from as far as you
                 can make it.
16: "Joe"        He's a friend of mine, excellent Sinkball player.
17: Kahn         A MechWarrior thing, it's like a president of a Clan.
18: My Advice    Buy the MechWarrior series if you like Duke!
                 It's not exactly like Duke, but it's very similar and
                 is awesome to play!!

7: Could I get your earlier level, Battle.map?

Yeah, sure. (I'm not being sarcastic...) Just email me, and I'll hand it to
you. Well, not hand. I'll email it to you. It's a Dukematch level, with a few
monsters for the single player. You'll need Atomic Edition or Plutonium Pak.
I think it's a good level, and the feedback I've got tells me the same.

8: Want something?

Guys, I just got a few wave files from the 3dRealms site (I think). These wave files are
the guy who does Duke Nukem's voice. The waves are screwups of his voice when he was
recording Duke's voice for a Playstation game. I'll send them to you in a zip file
if you contact me. Or go to 3dRealms site. I think that's where I got them.

9: Will there be more levels from you?

Yeah, probably. I'm taking the rest of Spring Break as a rest from building, yet working on
learning to do more advanced structures.
