                              Version 1.10

                 ISDN CAPI 1.1 based Answering Machine
                     for OS/2 Presentation Manager

  Introduction:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
   A few months ago we released Version 1.00 of CapiTel. Since then a lot
   of bugfixes and improvements have found their way into the new
   release, Version 1.10. Thanks to all the users who sent us their bug
   reports and feature ideas, do not stop with your feedback!
   A special thanks goes to the following people:
     - Kerstin Glodzinski
     - Norbert Schulze
     - Kolja Nowak
     - Peter Franken
     - Dirk Schreiber
  Installation:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
   The installation is easy. Just unzip the complete distribution archive
   into the desired destination directory and run INSTALL.CMD.
   This REXX script will create a CapiTel object on your Desktop.

   If you are going to create CapiTel objects on your own, do not
   forget to set the "Working Directory" !

   The OS/2 Multimedia Package MMPM/2 is _required_ now, please install
   it if you want to use CapiTel.

   CAPI 1.1 is unable to handle more than one applications that listen on
   the same EAZ. Therefore: If you use CapiTel, make sure it listens to
   the configured EAZ alone.

  Configuration:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Go to the Properties-Notebook, which can be found in the General menu.
   There you will find the following tabs:
   Defaults: - Generate 16-Bit .WAV Files
               Mark the checkbox if your soundcard supports this.
             - Flashing-Window on new Calls
               If a new incoming call is detected, CapiTel beeps and
               the frame of its window begins to flash. Click anywhere
               in the window to turn off the flashing. You can disable
               this behaviour completely with this checkbox.
             - Confirm on Call-Deletion
               Mark the checkbox if you want to be asked before
               CapiTel deletes a call.
             - Ignore empty Calls
               If you mark this checkbox, all calls with a recording
               time of 0 seconds won't be recognized by CapiTel
             - Answer Delay
               Specify the default delay (in seconds) before CapiTel
               answers a call.
             - Max. Recording Time
               Specify the default maximum recording time (in seconds).
               CapiTel automatically hangs up if a caller speaks and
               exceeds this limit!
             - Incoming EAZ Mask
               Mark the checkboxes of the EAZ's you want to be serviced.
               If you are using EuroISDN (DSS1), do not forget to map
               your MSN's to EAZ's. See the manual of your ISDN card for
               further information.
             - ISDN Controller ID
               If you have installed more than one ISDN cards, specify
               the controller's ID. Usually you just use 0 as ID.
             - Filename or Pipename for Logging
               CapiTel can log all calls in a log-file. Specify
               a filename or a pipename (ie. \PIPE\ZOC), or nothing if
               you don't want this feature.
   Ports:    - Here you can configure the ports. Double-click on an
               entry or access the context-menu with your right mouse
               button. The names of the ports (EAZ0 to EAZ9) can't be
               edited. Here is info about the other fields:
                 Description: A short description for the port
                 WAV/ALW File: A .WAV or .ALW file which is played whenever
                   a call is detected on the port. You may use * as filename
                   if the default file WELCOME.WAV should be used.
                 Reaction: CapiTel is able to reject a call. Here you
                   define how it should behave: 'Normal' for
                   normal behaviour, 'Busy' to simulate a busy
                   line, 'Refuse' to refuse the call, and
                   'Unavailable' to simulate an unavailable service.
                   Important: The reaction you define here is only valid
                   for the ISDN card. If another device (ie. an ISDN
                   telephone) is also listening on the EAZ, the caller
                   won't get CapiTel's reaction!  There is nothing we can
                   do about this. That's the way ISDN works.
                 Answer Delay: The answer delay (in seconds) for the port.
                   You may use * if the default delay, which can be
                   configured on the General-tab, should be used.
                 Max. Recording Time: The maximum recording time (in seconds)
                   for the port. You may use * here, too.
   Callers:  - Here you can add, edit and delete persons. If someone calls
               you and the incoming number matches one in this container,
               the caller specific settings are used. Use the right mouse
               button to access the context-menu. Here the info about
               the fields:
                 Name: The callers' names
                 Number: The callers' numbers which are used when
                   identifying incoming calls. You may use the * wildcard
                   at the end of a number (and only there).. ie. 024192090*
                   matches ALL numbers that start with 024192090.
                 WAV/ALW File: A .WAV or .ALW file which is played whenever
                   a call is detected for the caller. You may use * as
                   filename if the default file (Port-specific, otherwise
                   WELCOME.WAV) should be used.
                 Reaction: CapiTel is able to reject a call. Here you
                   define how it should behave: 'Port-Default' for the
                   reaction you have defined for the port (where the incoming
                   call is detected), 'Normal' for normal behaviour, 'Busy' to
                   simulate a busy line, 'Refuse' to refuse the call, and
                   'Unavailable' to simulate an unavailable service.
                   Important: The reaction you define here is only valid
                   for the ISDN card. If another device (ie. an ISDN
                   telephone) is also listening on the EAZ, the caller
                   won't get CapiTel's reaction!  There is nothing we can
                   do about this. That's the way ISDN works.
                 Answer Delay: The answer delay (in seconds) for the caller.
                   You may use * if the default delay (Port-specific,
                   otherwise the delay from the General-tab) should be used.
                 Max. Recording Time: The maximum recording time (in seconds)
                   for the caller. You may use * here, too.
   Use "Save" to save the new settings, or "Cancel" to discard them.
   A note about the Port/Caller specific settings:
   If you specify something for a caller, it takes precedence over the
   settings you might have defined for a Port.
  Usage:
  ~~~~~
   The most important part of the CapiTel main window is the container. There
   you will see all incoming calls. The fields are self explanatory. You may
   throw colours and fonts into the main window, they will be remembered.

   If you are using CapiTel with hidden controls, you can access the various
   menu functions with the popup menu you get when you click with your
   right mouse button on the container. The window can be moved by dragging
   the sizing border with the right mouse button pressed.

   Use the "Record" option to record a new welcome message by calling
   yourself. A dialog will pop up asking you for a filename. WELCOME.ALW is
   the default. You can use the created ALW files in the Port and
   Callers tabs of the Properties-Notebook.

   Of course you can create a .WAV file yourself (using MMPM's Audio
   Recorder) and use it directly!

  Some Requests:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   - CapiTel has been successfully tested with:
       + ELSA CAPI (all versions)
       + Teles CAPI (Version 2.97 and some other versions)
     Please let us know if you are running CapiTel on other ISDN boards,
     so we can add them to our compatibility list.
   - If you are willing to set up an Internet mailing list for CapiTel
     on your machine, we would be glad to hear from you.
   - If you are living in America and use CapiTel, please inform us
     about your experiences.
  Our plans:
  ~~~~~~~~~
   - DTMF decoding is on its way! Maybe you will see it in the next
     version.

   - More enhancements for the PM and ISDN interface.

  Registration:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
