InfoSpy is a general purpose Windows environment viewer allowing you view
Heap, Tasks, Windows, Classes, Modules, File Handles, DOS and Memory
Information. You can trace messages, stack and set up automatic timers
to provide real-time tracing on virtually every aspect of Windows.

The new System Sentry library lets you monitor Windows program usage, control
what Windows programs can be executed, disallow users from running programs,
disable the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys under Windows, and disable entire directories.

InfoSpy has been updated to run under Windows 95. Still a 16 app but ALL
functions work and provide accurate information for the Win95 environment!!

InfoSpy has full task scheduling capability allowing you to schedule the
execution of programs, Windows shutdown, Windows Restart, System Warmboot
& Coldboot and the termination of any task.

The Screen Capture Utility allows you to capture the entire desktop, a
specific window or cut a portion of the screen to the clipboard. You can
save the captured image as a bitmap too.

The DLL search utility will examine any local or network drive for all
programs that reference DLLs in order to provide a list of unreferenced
DLLs. In addition, all duplicate DLLs are displayed with an option to
delete the duplicates.

The ICON search will examine any file, directory or drive for files
containing ICONS and will list them (and draw them) in a convenient list.
You can copy any of the listed ICONS to the ClipBoard!

Ver 1.xx was highly praised by shareware magazines and software reviews
and was published in several books including "Byte Magazine's Programmer
Cookbook for Windows" and WUGNET's "Windows Configuration Secrets" as
a powerful, easy tool to inspect your Windows environment.

InfoSpy now includes STRESS functions that let you use InfoSpy to really
put the pressure on Windows and other applications. You can grab Global
Heap, GDI Heap, User Heap, File Handles, Disk Space and Timers. There is
also a function that continually does disk I/O to help simulate a busy
disk.

Real time tracing of stack, windows messages and serial comm ports has
been added as well as IntelliLib (tm) technology that lets you customize
InfoSpy by specifying with DLLs to load to add\remove functionality.

** What is your incentive to register? There is now an annoying splash
screen that appears when starting the unregistered version as well as
the word <unregistered> generously placed througout the program. The
code size of the registered version is 50k smaller too! We had
to add these features since we were getting lots of support calls from
people who had not registered. In other words, you get support when you
   register! **

Version History
===============

Ver 2.55
 1. New TECH DUMP feature built for the technical support dept of a large
software company. This feature allows you to gather key Windows information
without having the user do anything. Gathers Autoexec.bat, Config.sys,
Win.ini, System.ini, network information, environment and system
information. You can display, print or save the data easily and has a quick
text search feature. You can also force InfoSpy to show the TECH DUMP
window automatically when InfoSpy is started.
 2. Startup as a hidden icon now does not even flash a window on the screen,
really makes it tough for users to know InfoSpy is loading!
 3. Upgraded Netware spying capabilities to handle netware 4.x which allows
    more than 255 users.
 4. The ID text for logs can now be configured (on the PREFERENCES screen)
to be either a name you type, or the Netware login name if available, or
an id passed in a DOS variable (ie: FULLNAME= when you type SET).
 5. Corrected bug when displaying Current DOS Environment under Windows 95 so
    that it doesn't GPF.
 6. Corrected part of problem in Duplicate file search under Windows 95 that
would cause GPFs on some systems.
 7. The DLL Search has been updated to not display referenced DLLs that have
garbage characters in their names, however we did leave DLL names with all
    chars between Chr 32-128.
 8. Corrected bug that was causing some items to GPF when you tried saving
them to a file or copy them to the clipboard.
 9. The bug that prevented Double Clicking on an entry in the Duplicate file
list to load NOTEPAD has been corrected.
10. Upgrades to the Setup program to UNINSTALL the InfoSpy group and provide
better InfoSpy customization via the Setup program.

Ver 2.54
 1. Added NEW function to monitor Program and DLL Usage. This function allows
you to see exactly which EXEs and DLLs are loaded by a program and in which
order. In addition you can see what is unloaded when the program ends.
Extremely valuable tool for all VB and Powerbuilder developers!. Note that
under Windows95 this function only reports on 16bit applications and DLLs.
 2. Updated SETUP program to not automatically restart Windows under Windows
    95. Had several users state that it corrupted Win95.
 3. Fixed Run-time-Error in Disk Scan which was attempting to read a
    non-existant drive.
 4. Corrected Incorrect volume label on Disk Scan which showed the default
drive instead of A or B.
 5. Corrected problem with Resource Monitor in Text Mode which would not show
System Memory a 2nd time until graphed.
 6. Modified System Memory resource monitor to help prevent negative numbers
    due to longint division.
 7. Moved the INFBOOT.386 device driver to the Windows System subdirectory to
help prevent users from getting errors when they manually delete the InfoSpy
    directory.
 8. Modified InfoSpy startup to try all timers before halting because of a lack
of an available timer to use for the clock\scheduling.
 9. New Splash screen for the shareware version (our artistic side...)
 10. Modified Timer Stress function to not Eat\Release the InfoSpy clock timer.
This bug tended to lock things up...
 11. Modified the Timer Information window under the SYSTEM menu to not kill
     the InfoSpy clock timer.
 12. We had several users complain that the COMPACT GLOBAL MEMORY was causing
a GPF. This only seems to happen with certain memory managers like
RAMDOUBLER. So we have defaulted the scheduled compact event under
SCHEDULE SETUP to OFF. Be warned! Compacting Global Memory may blow your
     system out of the water!

Definition Of Shareware
=======================

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details --
some request registration while others require it, some specify a
maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the
simple right to continue using the software to an updated program with
printed manual.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and
the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are of
comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs and bad
ones!) The main difference is in the method of distribution. The
author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For
example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead
is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back
guarantee - if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
