        JAWS FOR WINDOWS UPDATE PROCEDURE
                 September 11, 1995

Section 1.

Updating from JFW ver. 1.0 (JFW.EXE file prior to 5/9/95).
If you already have 1.1, refer to Section 2.

You must use the JAWS setup program to install your
new JAWS software. Place your JAWS for Windows program
diskette in your floppy drive, then use one of the following two
options to start the program. For additional information about
using the Setup program, please read the Setup guide or the file
"SETUP.TXT".

INSTALLING FROM A DOS PROMPT
     Type A:SETUP or B:SETUP and press {ENTER}.

INSTALLING FROM WITHIN WINDOWS
Activate the Run dialog of Program Manager or File
Manager, then type A:SETUP or B:SETUP and press
     {ENTER}.

NEW AUTHORIZATION KEYS

In order to provide greater flexibility in the use of JAWS,
new authorization keys have been introduced with JAWS
version 1.1. An authorization key can now be installed on any
of your disk drives. You can even leave it on the JAWS
program diskette and keep the diskette in the floppy drive when
loading and using JAWS. You always must install a new
authorization key whenever you send us your old JAWS
program diskette and receive a new diskette in exchange. An
old authorization key cannot be used with new software.

To copy an authorization key to your hard drive, place
your JAWS for Windows program diskette in your floppy drive
and use one of the commands shown below. Change the disk
drive letters in the commands as needed. The "A:" indicates
the location of your JAWS diskette, and the "C:" indicates the
destination hard disk drive where the authorization key will be
copied.

INSTALLING FROM A DOS PROMPT
     Type A:\EVMOVE A: C: and press {ENTER}.

INSTALLING FROM WITHIN WINDOWS
Activate the Run dialog of Program Manager or File
Manager, then type A:\WINMOVE a: C: and press
     {ENTER}.

Section 2.

This section covers updating a JFW version 1.1 to the latest JFW
1.1 update 9/95. Assuming you now have a JFW directory with a JFW.EXE
file dated 5/9/95 or more recent and an Authorization Key installed,
follow this procedure:

1. Move your C:\jfw to another directory such as \jfwold:
type from DOS: "move c:\jfw c:\jfwold" and press enter.

note: If your DOS doesn't support the MOVE command, you should
make a directory called C:\jfwold and use: "XCOPY C:\JFW *.* /s c:\jfwold".

2. Install the JFW update as usual using a:\setup or a:\install.
You do not have to run authorization or registration for this update.

3. After install is complete, go the the C:\jfwold directory and
copy the HJCR.EXE file to the C:\JFW directory just installed.
This step is required for the authorization work properly.

4. Use your original JFW disk to move your authorization keys
when necessary.
