NOV95.TXT This text file describes what's new in this update.

VIRSCAN.DAT This data file is used by Norton AntiVirus to detect
and repair viruses. This file completely replaces the
existing virus definitions in your Norton AntiVirus
               directory.

                          Loading New Definitions

NOTE: The new definition files contained in this self-extracting archive
file replace the corresponding Norton AntiVirus files. Only the
most recent virus definitions are required to fully update your
       copy of Norton AntiVirus.

==========================================================================

To update Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95 virus definitions:

1) Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
The My Computer window opens displaying your available drives.

2) Double-click the drive or directory that contains the Norton AntiVirus
    Definitions Update.

3) Copy the following files to your Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95
folder. By default, this is the C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus
    folder:

         VIRSCAN.DAT
         VIRSCAN.INF
         VIRSPWD.DAT

For instructions on how to install the definition files from the DOS
prompt, see the additional update instructions below.

5) Launch Norton AntiVirus, then scan your drives.

Each update contains detection for newly discovered viruses.
Performing a virus scan will also force Norton AntiVirus to recognize
that a new VIRSCAN.DAT file is in place.

6) Restart your computer so that the Automatic Protect will use the
    newest virus definitions.

TIP: If you extracted this file inside the \Program Files\Norton
AntiVirus folder, then step 3 is already completed. If you extracted
this file in a different folder, copy the extracted files to the
folder containing the Norton AntiVirus application files. If
prompted to overwrite existing files, select Yes.

==========================================================================

To update Norton AntiVirus 3.0 virus definitions:

     1. Copy VIRSCAN.DAT, VIRSCAN.INF, VIRSPWD.DAT and VIRSPEC.TXT into
         the Norton AntiVirus 3.0 directory.

     2. Scan a drive, directory, or file with Norton AntiVirus 3.0, in
         either DOS or Windows.

This will generate new interim files and update the automatic
         protection TSR.

     3. Reboot your computer to load the updated automatic protection
         TSR.

TIP: If you extracted this file inside your \NAV directory, (\NDW for
users of Norton Desktop for Windows), then step 1 is already
completed. If you extracted this file in a different directory, copy
the extracted files to your \NAV directory. If prompted to overwrite
      existing files, select Yes.
