Thanks for requesting this file....the first section will tell you
how to set up LordNet on your system. Even if you already have it
set up, we suggest you read it, just to be certain you have it
configured correctly for our net. The one thing unique about our
net is that we allow ANY IGM's that you may want to run! This makes
for a VERY interesting game, and we are proud to be one of the most
active nets around. Give us a try, and I'm sure that you will agree!

This file will help you in setting up the Lordnet Program. If you are
FREQ'ing this file it will not include your site.dat file...as
soon as you get the program set up, just drop us netmail and tell us
that you are ready, and we will send you your site.dat by return
netmail. If you have ANY questions on the setup, please feel free to
ask us for help. This process is VERY easy...we can get it all set up
and running in about 5 minutes. We will be glad to help you.

First, make a SUB-directory called LNET off your LORD directory. Change to
LNET and pkunzip Lnet101C. (If you can't find this file, we have it available
for FREQ using the magic name LNET. This is the version that must be used.)
Using the magic word LNET will get you LNET101C and also the latest beta
version of LordNet. If you want ONLY 101C, use the file-name LNET101C.ZIP.
Then type LORDNET CONFIG. Go in Config Local Setup, and fill out all the file
directory paths, be SURE to put the \ after all the directory names! Where
it asks for the "main node number" that is YOUR fido address.
Exit this part of the program, and bring up the Alternate Address section,
and enter your FIDO address in position one. Now go in your LORD directory,
and find START.BAT. Find the line that says CALL LSS%1...go ONE line
down from there and put CD LNET (or whatever directory you have LordNet in)
and then on the next line put OUTBOUND and then on the next line put CD.. to
change back to the LORD directory.
              Like this: CALL LSS%1.BAT
                            CD LNET
                            OUTBOUND
                            CD..

If you are running LORD350 or newer, go in the Start.Bat file and find the
line Lord.Exe %1 %2 %3 %4 %5, and on the next line, put

                           CD LNET
                           OUTBOUND
                           CD..

That will run outbound everytime someone plays the game.

If you have an extremely active lord game, you may want to leave out
the above step, and run outbound from a maintence file once or twice
a day. We have in our midnight maint. event: CD \LORD\LNET
                                               OUTBOUND
(This will create outbound files only once a day. You may set it up
either way, but if you see that too many files are being created,
then we would advise going to the once a day routine.)

Then go in whatever you have that runs your mailer, and put in the line:
            IF EXIST C:\WC\MESSAGES\LN*.Z* LNET.BAT.

Then create a LNET.BAT thusly:
            CD \WC\LORD\LNET
            INBOUND

This will run inbound from the LordNet directory only when your system gets
any Lordnet files. You HAVE to be in the LordNet directory to run either
INBOUND OR OUTBOUND. Before you run this for the first time, you may want to
copy the LN mail file you get to some other directory just in case something
messes up, as the inbound will ERASE the file when it runs. Also, change the
batch file above to whatever YOUR directories are really called. This should
get you going!

Very Important:

1. You MUST run LNET101C (or later) version of LordNet for the game to work.
You can FREQ it from us as LNET.
2. When you get Lordnet correctly installed, send netmail to 1:377/45
and tell us that you are ready. We will then send your SITE.DAT
file to you, usually the same day. In your netmail message, tell us:
Your Board Name, Your City and State, Your FIDO node number. When
we send you your SITE.DAT file, take that file and drop it into
your LNET directory. That will activate your game. As soon as you
send us this info, you will be included in our game, and your
files will be ready for you to pick up, just as soon as we send you
your site.dat file. We will not turn down any node that applies.
Although our net is called USALORD, we welcome nodes from outside
the USA. All systems are invited to join!
3. After you have LNET setup, and have your site.dat file, go in LNET
and type LORDNET CONFIG and choose the INSTALL option. This will
install Lordnet in your 3rdparty.dat file.
4. Then, from the LNET directory, type INBOUND and then OUTBOUND.
If you have everything correct, both these will run without errors.
5. In your ROUTE.CFG file you should have these two lines:
              HOLD * 1
              UP *
This will put everything on hold for us. You can then go into your
mailer once or twice a week and change our packet to NORMAL or CRASH to
send out the game files. You could also mark the above to NORMAL * 1
if you want to send outbound files every day. We do request that you
poll us for your files at least ONCE a week to keep the game current.

Note: Some mailers will work better if you put NORMAL * 1 in your route.cfg,
and then tell the mailer software to put everything for 1:377/45 on HOLD.
Check your mailer directions if you have any problems. If you care to
call us everyday, just put everything on NORMAL.

Then you can go in CHECK ROUTING in Lordnet Config and make sure that it works
if you can go in there and call up a node, and exit without a runtime error,
you will know you have it set up correctly!

6. Once you are satisified you have it set up correctly, and have run
OUTBOUND, your mailer should have a file-pack addressed to our
system. Go into your mailer, and mark that pack as CRASH, and send
the pack to our system at 1:377/45. This will send your files to us,
AND then pick up your files at the same time. If you have everything
set up correctly on your end, the files you receive with this call
will be processed by your system, and you should be able to go
into your LORD game, and call up all the remote systems in the
   LordNet area.

We have had questions concerning which IGM's are allowed...if you
can install them, you are allowed to run them. No limits. If you
don't agree with this, please don't join this league. This league
was founded because there are a lot of people who are tired of the
limits in some of the other leagues.

Your costs of calling for your game files should be about 20-30 cents
per call, depending where you are calling from, and the time of day that
you are calling. Figure if you call twice per week, you are giving
your users a great game with very active nodes for around 60 cents
per week. Our LORD useage here has gone up over 400% since we started
the net, and it is making the board much more active.

8. Thanks for joining, and we hope you and your users will have fun!
