Here are a few quick notes for FileWorks 1.0:

BUG FIX:

The first demos were released with a bug which made it impossible to
customize your own directory buttons. This problem has been fixed.

========================================================================

o FileWorks relies heavily on the right mouse button. Generally, a
left-click will perform the operation of a button, while a right-
click will allow you to edit the buttons function, or use a more
   advanced version of the function.

o To see a list of the last 20 directories you've visited, press the
right mouse button while over the path edit controls.

o All file operations work in the current directory, or active file
list. This list is outlined in red. To change the active file
list, click once with either the left or right mouse buttons to
activate it. (You can optionally press the tab key to toggle the
   current side.)

o Copying and moving files work between the two directories in the two
file lists. When you copy a file, by clicking on the Copy button,
it will be copied to the opposite file list. Moving works the same
way by clicking the Move button. If you would like to copy a file
to a specific directory, use the 'File/Copy To...' menu option. Or,
you can select files and drag them to the desired destination.

o There are two distinct types of user-buttons. The first row of
text buttons, just below the graphic buttons, are 'Program Buttons',
which let you use internal functions or run external programs. The
buttons just below these are the 'Directory Buttons'. These let you
quickly "change directory" to a preset path, with optional wild cards.

o The Program Buttons (the first line of buttons just
below the graphic buttons) are set up for a basic system -
you will probably want to configure these buttons to you own
current set of utilities. You can have any number of button rows
and columns. For more information on configuring Program Buttons,
   see the on-line help.

o The Directory Buttons, located below the Program Buttons, are also
set up for a basic system. To modify any of these buttons, simply
right-click on any one of them. The Directory buttons are left/right
sensitive. Clicking on the left-hand side of the button will display
the directory in the left-hand file list. Likewise, clicking on the
right-hand side of the button will display the directory in the
left-hand file list. This option can be disabled: See the
   'Prefs/Directory Buttons/Layout' menu option.

o To modify or add new extensions, use the 'Prefs/Extensions' menu
option. You will notice that extensions can use both left- and
   right-clicks.

o Your custom menus will appear on the extreme right side of the
menu bar. To edit menus use the 'Prefs/Menus' menu option.

o When left-clicking in the file list, FileWorks will select the chosen
file and deselect all other files, unless you start a drag-and-drop
operation, when the previosly selected files will remain selected.
To select multiple files, either use the right mouse button, or hold
the CTRL key down while left clicking filenames. To quickly select
or deselect all files, click the "*.*" button next to the path edit
   box.
