"A Diagnostic Test Program For Logitech Joysticks"
                                 Version 1.0
                         (c)1995 by Logitech, Inc.

      Description:
WINGMAN.EXE is a utility which allows you to test the various
functions of Logitech WingMan and WingMan Extreme joysticks.
The program graphically displays information pertaining to X and
Y stick coordinates, button status, hat position and throttle
position. The program also helps you to quickly get acquainted
with various aspects of a joystick - so you will be more prepared
      when running your other games!

      Program Usage:
When you first run the program, you will probably notice that
the crosshairs are not centered within the X-Y view window...
THIS IS NORMAL, since most joysticks use potentiometers not
unlike the volume control in a radio. The rest values and ranges
of these "pots" vary not only from manufacturer to manufacturer,
but even from one joystick to another of the same type. Most
programs incorporate some form of calibration scheme to
compensate for this inherent variance. You can press "c" at any
time within the program to calibrate your WingMan or WingMan
Extreme joystick. Because many factors such as temperature and
usage can affect the way information is read from a joystick,
most games or other applications which use a joystick require the
joystick be calibrated. This is usually done when you start the
application - and generally must be done each time the
      application is run.

      Common Problems:
Many computers now have two joystick ports - one built into the
I/O card and possibly another one on the sound card (if
a sound card is installed in your system). If you receive an
error message that a joystick wasn't found when running your
game, the symptom is usually caused by one of three problems:

1.) The joystick is not plugged into the joystick port -->
Plug it into the port and re-start the application.

2.) The port the joystick is plugged into is not active -->
Check the back of the computer to see whether there is
another joystick port. The chances are, there is, and
the joystick will probably work on it.

3.) There are two active joystick ports on the system which
are conflicting with each other --> Disable one of
these ports and connect the joystick to the other.
(Check the documentation which came with the I/O card
or sound card for information regarding enabling or
                disabling the joystick port)

      Below is another common problem:

      Either: 1.) WingMan's Throttle doesn't respond on-screen.
      or 2.) WingMan Extreme's Hat doesn't respond on-screen,
and only two buttons indicate activity when pressed.

Each of the two symptoms above may indicate that the joystick
port may be of "Single Port" type. Most newer joystick ports
support "Dual Port" joysticks. You can think of WingMan or
WingMan Extreme as two joysticks in one (even though there is
only one cable). If you have another joystick port on the
system, try using WingMan or WingMan Extreme with the other
      port.

Be sure to return WingMan's throttle dial to the minimum position
(toward you) before testing WingMan, as most applications will
automatically calibrate the throttle to the minimum position when
      started.
