 * In 1946 Hawaii had people and houses washed out to sea by a Tsunami.     
   The tsunami is a catastrophic ocean wave caused by an earthquake under-  
   water.  The earthquake that caused this tsunami happened five hours      
   before hitting Hawaii in Aleutians, some 2,300 miles away.               
 * The German ship Wilhelm Gustloff was torpedoed in the Baltic Sea.  It    
   made the loss of lives on the Titanic look small - 8,000 people drowned. 
 * During the ice age, nearly 30% of the land on earth was covered with a   
   thick layer of ice.                                                      
 * To make a pound of honey a bee must collect nectar from 2 million flowers

 * Paul Revere, though a great silversmith failed at copperplate engraving. 
   He was poor in artistry on copper and did that work only when financially
   hard up.                                                                 
 * Charles Carroll, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence   
   was the last survivor - he died at age 95.  He also died one of the      
   country's wealthiest man.                                                
 * The Declaration of Independence was printer by a woman, Mary Katherine   
   Goddard - she distributed the first edition to the first commissioned    
   Congress in January 1777.                                                
 * The first U.S. Chief Justice, John Jay, bought slaves then freed them.   
 * Alexander Hamilton wanted the country to be "The united state of         
   america," having no individual states.                                   
 * While president, George Washington and John Adams paid protection money  
   to pirates in the Mediterranean Sea several millions while the Congress  
   debated starting a navy.                                                 
 * When George Washington died, it is said that British ships in the English

 * The first lottery was in Virginia in 1826 - the first person to develop  
   the lottery was Thomas Jefferson - he was flat broke at age 83 and needed
