 Greed, Power & Racism!
Ĵ
Discrimination - a word used often but rarely understood by most people.
It may mean something regarding a race or religion or sex; but the truth
is it means greed and power. Racism and discrimination is perpetuated by
people desiring greed and power. People who wish to maintain control of
money and/or others lives and lifestyles. Linked together with crime in
the streets, giving more power to those already in control. There is
profit in crime - not necessarily for the criminal but for the police
agencies, attorneys, court rooms, news media and more. Gangs, according
some studies, have been supplied weapons by those authorities in charge,
merely to take the attention away from the civil rights issues and placing
one's attention on their own back yard and protection of one's self.
Clearly urban renewal, education, and job corps is not working. In South
Central Los Angeles alone the unemployment rate (true unemployment rate,
meaning those without jobs not those merely collecting unemployment) is
55% in the Black community alone. Yet near by a new freeway is being
built, the Century Freeway - but the workers consist of mostly workers from
other states, not California. Only two workers are from the nearby comm-
unity. From the windows of the Martin Luther King hospital one can see
the vision of the 1990's being built - a new city jail. The Black man
already holds 30% of the space in the jails in the city of Los Angeles.

 Greed, Power, & Racism
Ĵ
But when you are a poor man, unemployed, attempting to provide for your
family and do the right thing what is left for you to do than steal bread
and milk for your child. I would certainly do the same if need be.
But what is the true problem here? Is it racism or greed? I think it
greed - since racism is something that must be taught and learned. When
one watches two children playing together, one white and one black, you
can see that racism is something learned later in life from adults. Why?
Because someone else taught them - and so the snowball effect begins.
Well, it is time to heat things up and stop that snowball from rolling.
It starts with you and with me. I'm not going to attempt to cover all the
reasons why I think racism is stupid and generally something that is
continued by the uneducated/ignorant individual - I'm only going to say one
word to you that eliminates all prejudice, racism, and discrimination -
humans. That's what we all are - we all seek some dream, have some goal
and quest in life - we all breath, bleed, die and mourn - we are humans.
Stop the racism and stop giving power to those greedy enough to attempt to
 perpetuate ignorance and misunderstanding.
As one t-shirt had written on it, worn by a young black man - There is NO
peace without justice - inversely There is NO Justice without Peace either.
Neither can be achieved without brotherhood of man.
