A hair's curliness is determined by the shape of the follicle:
a round follicle produces straight hair, an oval follicle produces
curly hair and a kidney shaped follicle gives you wavy hair!

The body is typically covered with 5 million hairs, 100,000 of
which are located on the scalp.

It is normal to shed between 20 and 100 hairs a day from the scalp.
Some miss them more than others!

Hair cannot turn white overnight. Changes in color occur below the
scalp and become visible as the hair grows out.

Changes in the appearance of hair and nails can be useful indicat-
ors of disease. Brittle hair can be a sign of thyroid disease, and
extremely dry hair may indicate some malnutrition. This, of course
does not include those of you who are stranded on a desert island
without an umbrella. Nails can turn yellow because of respiratory
disorders and white in response to liver dysfunction.

Fingernails grow about an eighth of an inch a month while toenails
  grow about half that fast.

Contrary to popular belief, tiny white spots on the nails are NOT
caused by calcium deficiency. They form when the nail root is dis-
turbed or injured, and they grow out with the nail.
