Revision History

FILES Open

	Open a previously saved report.

FILES Save

Save the current report to be read, edited, or printed later.

FILES Save as

Name and save the current report to be read, edited, or printed later.

FILES Print

	Print the currently displayed report.

This item is also accessible by clicking on the printer push button.

FILES Select printer

Select the printer to which the report will be sent.

Report Printer sends the output to the first printer it finds, which may or may not be the appropriate printer for your system. To ensure that the output is sent to a printer as opposed to a fax/modem, for example, select the appropriate printer from those listed in the listbox. This need only be done once, since the selected printer is saved to e-teller.ini.

FILES [Accounts]

The accounts in the current directory are listed at the end of the File menu. Before you can do anything, you must select an account. A check mark is placed next to the active account, and its name appears in the Report Printer title bar.

NOTE: To generate more than one report, for example a category report of all utility expenses in all accounts, click on the first account in the File menu, generate the report, click on the next account, generate another report (but do no erase the contents of the window), and so on.

EDIT Copy

Copy the selected text to the clipboard.

EDIT Cut

Cut the selected text to the clipboard.

EDIT Paste

Paste the clipboard contents to the window.

EDIT Undo

	Undo the latest edit.

TRANSACTION Process all

This generates a report of all the transactions in both the *.clr and *.ldg account files, using the report format.

This operation is also accessible by clicking on the Process all push button (with the miniature window with text).

EDIT Select

This generates a report based upon the contents of a specific field and criterion which the user specifies. All transactions which do not match the specification are excluded from the report. This option uses the Report format.

This operation is also accessible by clicking on the Select push button (the miniature window with text and magnifying glass).

TOGGLE/PUSH BUTTONS Memo include

When the button with the yellow sheet of paper is toggled on, the memo information (if any) for the individual transaction will be included in the Report format, directly below the 'Particulars' information. If off, memo information is excluded.

This button has no effect in the Category format.

TOGGLE/PUSH BUTTONS Category include

When the button with the balloons and house is toggled on, the category information (if any) for the individual transaction will be included in the Report format, directly below the 'Particulars' information (and below the Memo information if toggled). If off, category information is excluded.

This button has no effect in the Category format.

TOGGLE/PUSH BUTTONS Memo include

The 'category include' toggle button serves a second purpose. Right-click on the toggle button in order to generate a category report.

	To generate a category report:

	1) click on the toggle button.
	2) click on the categories to
	    include
	3) click 'OK'
	4) select a time-frame
	    option

NOTE 1: At the top of the categories list is an entry labelled <All>. Select this entry if you want all of the listed categories to be included in the report.
NOTE 2: The time-frame option allows you to specify either a current fiscal year (actually a calendar year) or a month range.
NOTE 3: I've experience odd behaviour with the category list. Some times, the program fails to read the contents of the category.dat file into the listbox even though I've checked and rechecked the code.

TOGGLE/PUSH BUTTONS Clear window

This pushbutton (with the window and pencil) is a convenient way of deleting the entire contents of the window.

NOTE 1: Invoking a new report first asks you whether the contents of the window should be deleted. If you do not elect to erase the contents, the transactions (if any) are appended to the end of the list.

REPORT FORMATS Report format

This format is similar to the layout in the ledger container in E-Teller and is useful for printing monthly or yearly reports.

REPORT FORMATS Category format

This format is useful for generating budget reports since it includes only the following information:

	1) category
	2) credit or debit
	3) total of both per
	    category
	4) total of all categories

REPORT FORMATS Page format

Page breaks are not inserted into the report primarily so that a report can be printed on 8 x 14 paper rather than 8 x 11. The width, however, is set for an 8"-wide sheet of paper. The font can be altered, of course, by dragging a different font from the Font folder, but it is the user's responsibility to ensure proper formatting. Report Printer does not attempt to reformat the report in accordance with a new font setting or with a landscape printout.

Revision history

May 1994 (version 1.0)
- Removed original print feature from E-Teller in order to expand the print feature, part of which includes the incorporation of the new category field in E-Teller into Print Report in the hopes of making this a true budget report (this still requires work, so I'm *very* open to suggestions).
- Removed the currently-opened account restriction and added a list of available accounts within the File menu.
