1.00 - 17 SEP 94
================

Welcome to the official release of WAFTOGT. Beta testing
is officially over, and this release has been called 1.00.

        1. New utility program: WTGSETUP. This program will make
it easier to configure the program, and setup newsgroups too.
You can use it instead of a standard text editor, although
that will work too. WTGSETUP can be used with first time
installations, as well as with existing installations.

        2. Aliasing! Registered users may now alias e-mail to
other places. For example, I might want 'rkroll' mail
to be expanded to my real name so I see it in MMR.
All I would need to do is add the appropriate entry to
the alias list, and it will work.

Those of you wanting to run e-mail/netmail gateways with
WAFTOGT can use this feature for that purpose. You could
tell the program to send all mail for 'jblow' to
'Joe Blow' at 123/456. A new field has been added to
the config file for this purpose. See the WTGSETUP program
        for details.

        3. Some things related to the import of E-mail have been
fixed. Certain systems were having trouble before.

BETA 9 - 27 JUN 94
===================

        ** IMPORTANT - Use ftp.csn.net for all FTP'ing now! ***

Summer is here, and with it comes another release of
WAFTOGT. Your suggestions and comments are welcomed,
and keep the program fresh and dynamic.

Information on e-mail: If you are replying to an e-mail
message that was imported by WAFTOGT, you don't have
to send it to "UUCP" or put the "To:" line in the top
of the message. WAFTOGT will automatically trace back
to the original message to determine who to send to.

        1. Those funky partial system names in the .X file are
now supported. Usually, a system 'lunatix' will put
their full sitename in the control lines of the .X file,
but sometimes they will only put some of the full name.
Beta 9 supports files from these places.

        2. The e-mail import procedure has been reworked. Before,
it was limited somewhat depending on how much RAM it could
grab. It will now import e-mail that is MUCH larger.
There is a indicator showing how many bytes it has processed
        so far while importing.

        3. More X.400 funny stuff (why must they be so strange ... ???)
Addresses like the following are supported and decoded:

        From: wu/O=JEFFREY_RACE/DD.ELN=62075697@mhs.attmail.com

Those addresses are really ugly IMO.

        4. This is only of interest for GT BETA PEOPLE. All others
should go on to number 5, since it does not apply. This version
adds support for the new "_USER.CTL" when performing bounce
checking. Just set the GT= field to 19.

        5. REGISTERED USERS: Another bonus from registration - auto
adding. WAFTOGT will now, if desired, automatically perform
a RESETHI for any newsgroups that do not have pointers defined.
This makes it a bit easier to add a whole bunch of newsgroups,
since you don't have to RESETHI them all.

Just set AA=yes in the config file.

        6. WAFTOGT will now create the MESSAGE.CTL and/or the GTMSGS
directory when attempting to import news. This makes it
even easier to add a new group. You must still create the
base GT directory. For example, if I tell WAFTOGT to add
a group "alt.barney.die.die.die", and config it like so:

        alt.barney.die.die.die f:\echo\abddd

All I have to do here is make the f:\echo\abddd directory,
and WAFTOGT will take care of the GTMSGS directory. Since
I'm obviously a registered user, it will also handle the
pointer for the Waffle side (see #5 above for info).

At this point, all you have to do is edit your GTMDIR.BBS
file to make it available to your users. Easy!

        7. The feature of letting the .CNF file be in either
the current directory or the GTPATH has been changed.
It will now only look for the file in the GTPATH or
        the LANPATH.

        8. The unidentified flying date that was landing on
all messages being imported has been identified and
stomped. One little line of debug code can make a
nice little problem to track down later .. <g>

        9. A request for a new feature - RESETHI in EXPMAIL.
People who renumber their e-mail area periodically
also need to keep the pointer of the last exported
message in sync as well. Putting RESETHI on the
commandline of EXPMAIL will generate the .GTW file.

Note - unlike the main WAFTOGT module, you don't
need to already have a pointer to run it the first
time. EXPMAIL will make one, if needed.

        10. Date-related fix - a newsreader that had the
month spelled out all the way (June instead of Jun)
caused WAFTOGT to fail in an interesting place.
WAFTOGT will now truncate month names down to
the first 3 letters before checking them.

        11. At the request of William Johnson, WAFTOGT will
now slightly modify the subject field of messages
that have been split. A message with the subject
of "A Day to Remember" that gets split into three
        parts would have these subjects:

        A Day to Remember
        A Day to Remember (p2)
        A Day to Remember (p3)

This lets you identify the various parts of the
message, and also keeps certain dup checkers from
killing off additional pieces of messages.

Further details have been eliminated from this file to save on space.
