 July 22th, 1994 v5.2 A

Updating From v5.2 To v5.2 A
=============================

Copy SOLITREE.EXE, SOLITREE.SLB, ST_SETUP.EXE, ST_EDIT.EXE & SOLITREE.NPD
into the game directory overwriting any existing files and this should do it.

Fixes And/Or Changes
====================
NOTE: Most updates mentioned in the (Letter) release where made to
all JNS Software Door Games. These are maintenace releases except
where mentioned otherwise. Also some editors for JNS Doors where
not complete at the time of this release. But will soon follow for
each door. I didn't want to hold up the release because of the
        DAT editors.

  * Added new Multi-Node setup which makes setting up a breeze.

  * Made Setup & Editor external to main game EXE file. This free's up
more memory when the door executes. Also fixes a lock-up problem with
    setup on some CPU's.

  * Colorized help text.

  * Done some general updating of code which should improve performance and
possibly stop a few of those glitches some have experienced.

UPGRADE Soli-Tree 4.0 to 5.x
================================

The games players scores cannot be saved from v4.0 do to the added
features of 5.x. But you can save the All Time and Last Month's Champion
data. If this is unimportant to you then just backup your current Soli-Tree
game and reinstall the new one from scratch. If you are running a registered
version be sure not to delete your SOLITREE.KEY file.

Follow these steps to upgrade from 4.0 to 5.1 to save your Champion scores.

To save your Champion data do this first:
   -----------------------------------------
View the latest bulletin the game created or run the game and view the
scores. Write down the Last Months and All Time Champions Names & Scores.

#1: Make a back-up copy of your current Soli-Tree directory.

#2: Copy the 5.1 Soli-Tree files into your Soli-Tree game directory.

#3: Look in your SOLITREE.CFG file and check your bulletin names for
convience sake and then delete the SOLITREE.CFG file.

#4: Run the setup program SOLITREE SETUP and create a new SOLITREE.CFG
file. This will add extra lines that have been added to the file.

#5: Now run the game in local mode SOLITREE LOCAL and let the game
initialize. Select the 'Quit Before Playing' option from the menu
       and return back to DOS.

#6: To restore your Champion's data run the JNSCHAMP.EXE file and follow
the instructions. It's real quick and simple.

NOTE: If your running Multi-Node then you have more changes to make to
get the door running from the BBS. See the Multi-Node Setup in the
         documentation file for instructions.

Fixes & Changes
===============

  * Fixed bug I missed in 5.1 where when in Standard Mode the game was not
awarding Free Hands but in stead displaying '10 Hand Limit Reached.
    Sorry about that.

 June 4th, 1993 v5.1

Fixes & Changes:
----------------

  * Now automatically detects and adjusts screen to 25 line mode for RIP
Graphics. This stops the scrunching look on the users term.

  * Built in Setup program that use to be external. It will now also read in
the games current .CFG file when executed if one is found. Support for
environment variables were added and you know have to specify SETUP on the
    command line to execute it.

  * Built in user score (.DAT) editor. This will allow you to edit players
scores and other data if need be. Just specify EDIT on the command line.

  * Added a new program in ALL game packages named JNSCHAMP that will allow
editing of the Champion data. This will work for all JNS Software Games.
See the documentation file for details.

  * Made major changes to the way this and all other JNS doors handle Multi-
node support. The game now uses enviroment variables in the configuration
file thus eliminating the need for multiple configuration files. See the
    documentation file for details.

  * With the above change the configuration is not read from the command line.

  * When using the fossil option an 'F' is now attached to the users baud
    rate like 'Baud: 9600 F'.

  * When using a Node ID environment variable in the configuration file the
game will now attach the Node ID on the SysOp statis line to the baud
rate like 'Baud: 9600 / Node 1'. This is handy when running DESQview.

  * Added a SPLIT command line option to give the sysop something different
to look at. With this option it will split the registration box off the
screen instead of the old clear screen. Just a toy.

 May 9th, 1993 v5.0

WHAT'S NEW in 5.0 released 5-9-93:
----------------------------------
   * Now Supports Tournament or Standard play. Standard play, like 4.0 plays
with randomly generated hands for each player. Tournament mode will
create Hands at the beginning of each month and each player will
recieve the exct same shuffle for each hand. Also in Tournament mode
there is a Joker added to the game.

   * With version 5.0 a evaluation key is no longer needed. In an attempt
to make evaluating games easier I've decided to move to a new approach
that requires no additional calls or files.

Starting with version 5.0 when evaluating, the game will run for 21 days
then do a complete data reset. This will reset game scores to null but
continue to run for the 30 day period. When registered with-in 21 days
you will recieve a Registered KEY file that will stop the game from
resetting and the game can continue with the current scores intact.

In the Registered Version the game will allow the Make-Up, Play Ahead,
Bulletin Maker and Editor to function. These features are not available
     in the un-registered version.

   * Added the comment line for dedications discussed in SOLITREE.DOC.

   * Added color to the opening registration screen. Looks a bit nicer now.

   * Made alteration to local monitor detection routine.

   * Modified ST_SETUP.EXE to except new Comment Line and Mode Switch.

   * Added Fossil Support. See FOSSIL.TXT for more information.

   * Other features and fixes which I can't remember! (Hope you like it!)

   END
