This is the readme.txt file for BaR version 2.12
19 April 1994

BaR is a PM-based front end for OS/2's backup and restore programs which
provides some enhancements.

To run BaR you need the following:

   - BaR.exe
   - VROBJ.DLL
   - Rexx support
   - OS/2's backup and restore

Optional files are:

  - BaR.ico
(if you don't care what BaR.exe looks like or don't plan on
	 creating an object)
  - BaRHlp.txt
(if you don't care about text-based on-line help)
  - e.exe
(used to edit backup log files)

Installing and Starting BaR Front End

Type barstall and follow the instructions.

It is *strongly* recommended that you install BaR with the BaRstall
script for two reasons: 1) it will attempt to figure out the date
format for your system (essential if you use the date parameters in
Backup and Restore); 2) it will create subdirectories beneath BaR's
directory for all the hard drives and partitions on your system (used
with the INI backup feature). If you don't have either the date format
in your BaR.ini file or the appropriate subdirectories, BaR will default
to the format mm-dd-yy for the first and fail for the second should you
choose to backup specific INIs. N.B. I also recommend that you install
BaR in its own, unique subdirectory, primarily in order to avoid
  clutter.

Once you've installed BaR, move the vrobj.dll file to a directory
specified in your libpath in config.sys. If you already have a copy
of Watcom's VX-Rexx DLL, you may delete the one from this archive,
provided the date of the existing copy is not earlier than the one in
the archive. BaR 2.12 requires the DLL for VX-Rexx 2.0.

If you chose not to have BaRstall create a WPS object and would like
to start BaR from anywhere, first ensure that the path in which it is
installed is added to the path statement in config.sys, and then add
the environment variable, SET BAR_DIR=[directory], in config.sys. Of
course, [directory] should be replaced by the directory in which BaR
  resides.
