INSIGHT Demonstration Version Installation Guide
________________________________________________

This guide provides installation procedures for INSIGHT demonstration version.
The INSIGHT demonstration version differs from the standard versions in the
following three ways:

1 - Each database can hold a maximum of 100 records.

2 - The maximum LEN number that can be entered is "000117."

3 - The demonstration version can be copied and distributed freely as long
as you include all files and documentation and you do not modify any of
the programs or documentation. The demonstration version can be copied
without penalty as long as you adhere to this additional policy. This
policy supersedes the section of the program license which states that
the program cannot be copied or given to someone (demonstration version
      only).

The demonstration version can be copied by anyone wishing to try the software
or can be obtained directly from On-Line Data Solutions. This documentation
may also be freely copied and distributed.

Use the TAB key to move through each selection group or use the mouse to point
to the group. Use the up and down cursor keys when selecting the PBX port and
baud rate. Use the space bar to toggle the Options on or off.

Select the appropriate installation options as follows:

      Field Description
      _____ ___________

PBX Port Number of the serial port of the P.C. that is
connected to the PBX. The default is serial
                              port 1.

PBX Baud Baud rate of the PBX port. The default baud
                              rate is 9600.

Check AUTOEXEC.BAT INSIGHT functions best when its directory exists
on the MS-DOS path (see the MS-DOS user's guide
for details about paths). If this option is
enabled, INSTALL will automatically update your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file if the INSIGHT program path is
                              not already there.

Check CONFIG.SYS INSIGHT requires that a minimum of 60 DOS files
be available for proper operation. The number
of DOS files available is configured in the
CONFIG.SYS file in the form of "FILES=XXX" where
XXX can be from 8 to 255. If this option is
enabled INSTALL will automatically update your
CONFIG.SYS file if less than 60 files are
                              configured.

Install Program To Directory in which to install the INSIGHT
program. If the directory you specify does not
exist it will be created. When this field is
first selected the text will be highlighted. If
any keys are pressed at this point the entire
text will be erased. If you want to edit this
text without erasing it use the right cursor key
to move to the area that you want to edit.
After the cursor is moved from the first
character the highlighting of the text will
disappear and the text will not automatically
                              erase.

Database Path This is the directory in which to store the
INSIGHT database files. If the directory you
specify does not exist it will be created. When
this field is first selected the text will be
highlighted. If any keys are pressed at this
point the entire text will be erased. If you
want to edit this text without erasing it use
the right cursor key to move to the area that
you want to edit. After the cursor is moved
from the first character the highlighting of the
text will disappear and the text will not
                              automatically erase.

Installation Processes:

Initializing INSTALL is verifying disk drive types and free
space available on the destination drive (where
the program is to be installed).

Creating Directories INSTALL is attempting to create the directories
                              specified in the "Setup" command.

      Extracting Program
Files INSTALL is creating the INSIGHT program files in
the specified program directory. This procedure
                              will take a few minutes.

      Extracting Database
Files INSTALL is creating the default database files
                              in the specified database directory.

Checking AUTOEXEC.BAT INSTALL is checking the PATH statement in the
                              AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

Checking CONFIG.SYS INSTALL is checking the FILES statement in the
                              CONFIG.SYS file.

Installation Complete The installation process is done. Press ESC to
close the installation process dialog box.

8. After the installation is complete, INSTALL will prompt you to reboot
your PC if the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files have been updated.

If either of the files have been updated choose "Yes" to reboot the PC.
INSTALL will ask you to remove the installation disk and press RETURN.
This will cause the PC to reboot.

If the files have not been updated press ESC or ALT-F3 to close the
installation process dialog box. Press ALT-X to exit from INSTALL.

9. Installation has now been completed. To run INSIGHT, type

            INSIGHT

      at the DOS prompt.Installation Errors
___________________

The following is a list of errors that could occur during the installation
process and their meanings:

Destination drive for program is not a hard disk - INSIGHT can be
installed only on a hard disk.

Destination drive for database is not a hard disk - INSIGHT database
files can be installed only on a hard disk.

Not Enough Free Space On Destination Drive - INSTALL will not install
INSIGHT if the free space on the destination drive is too small.
Install the program to another drive or free some space on the current
      destination drive.

Disk Error - This is a general disk error. Verify the installation
floppy disk and the destination drive.

Error Reading Disk - This is an error of the installation disk. Make
sure you're using the original floppy disk for installation.

Disk Is Write Protected... - Remove the write-protect label from the
      installation disk.

Unable To Create Directory - Check to make sure that the directory you
entered in the "Setup" command is a valid DOS directory.

On-Line Manual
______________

INSIGHT includes an On-Line Manual module. The on-line manual, MANUAL.EXE,
can be used to:

o view the INSIGHT documentation on-line

o send the documentation to a printer

o send the documentation to a disk file.

There are two ways to access the on-line manual:

o From INSIGHT select the "ModulesInsight On-Line Manual" menu
            choice.

o From DOS type "Manual Insight"

If MANUAL.EXE is not in the current disk directory, and is not in
a directory that is part of your MS-DOS path you will need to
change your default directory to the one that contains MANUAL.EXE
(if you configured the INSIGHT installation program to update your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file the MANUAL.EXE program will be in a directory
that is in your MS-DOS path).

When the on-line manual is accessed the screen below will appear:
