Thank you for choosing HyperNotes! Follow the simple instructions
 below to install.

      INSTALLING HYPERNOTES
Just choose "Run" from the Program Manager File menu, and in the
box that comes up, type A:\SETUP.EXE. This assumes you have the
HyperNotes files on a diskette in your A:\ drive. If they are
anywhere else instead, type in the path to them in place of the
"A:\". Before you try to install, though, see the section on
VBRUN300.DLL.

      DOS SHARE
As a potentially multi-user product, HyperNotes needs to have
DOS SHARE (or its equivalent) present for its database access.
SHARE is initiated in the CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
If you do not currently run DOS SHARE, insert the following line
in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file before it calls Windows:

SHARE.EXE /L:500

This assumes that DOS is in your path as defined in AUTOEXEC.BAT.

      VBRUN300.DLL
HyperNotes requires a special library of routines called
VBRUN300.DLL. The SETUP program mentioned above must have this
file available also in order to run.

If you obtained your HyperNotes files directly from a bulletin
board, this file was probably not included among the ones you
downloaded for HyperNotes. This is because VBRUN300.DLL is a file
common to many Windows programs, and most of the people who
download HyperNotes will already have this file.

Virtually any source from which you obtained these HyperNotes files
will also be able to provide you with VBRUN300.DLL at no charge.
And if you got the files from a current user, it should already be
on the disk. To see if it is either there, or on your system, try
running the SETUP program as directed above. If VBRUN300.DLL is
not present, a message will appear saying that the program cannot
be run.

Once you have VBRUN300.DLL, you may place it on the
WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

      LIST OF INSTALLED FILES
The HyperNotes Setup installs the following files:

     Into the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:
        VBRUN300.DLL (if present)
        HNTSORT.DLL
        VBIS23MU.DLL
        CMDIALOG.VBX
        ATX30H.VBX
        VSVIEW.VBX
If the install detects the same or a newer version of any of the
above files already on your computer, they will not be overlaid.

Into the new HyperNotes directory you specify:
        HNOTES.EXE
        HNOTES.HLP
        SETUP.EXE
        INSTALL.TXT
        README.TXT

Into the FOLDERS\TUTORIAL subdirectory to the above:
        DOCS.ISD, DOCS.ISF, DOCS.ISM
        TITLES.ISD, TITLES.ISF, TITLES.ISM
        INDEX.ISD, INDEX.ISF, INDEX.ISM
        KEYS.ISD, KEYS.ISF, KEYS.ISM
        LEAVES.BMP
        HYPERBAR.BMP
        SOUND.WAV
        MUSIC.MID

      MANUAL INSTALL
If you experience a problem installing through the SETUP program,
you may install the files manually. In File Manager, create a new
directory called HNOTES (you may use another name if you wish).
Then copy all the HyperNotes files into it except the ones ending
in .ISD, .ISF, and .ISM. These should be placed in a subdirectory
to the new directory: FOLDERS\TUTORIAL.

You will also want to create the icon to represent HyperNotes on
your desktop. Follow the instructions in your Windows manual to
do this.

In order to make the common Windows routines in HyperNotes
available to other programs you might obtain, you should move them
from the HyperNotes directory to a place where they can be accessed
by other programs as well as HyperNotes. In File Manager, move the
files VBRUN300.DLL and all files ending in .VBX into the
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. You should check first, however,
to make sure you don't overlay a more recent copy of these files
that may already be there. You can then delete them from your
HyperNotes directory, as only one copy of them is needed.
