     Title: Mary's Old Virginny Pie Pastry

 3      c   all purpose flour
 2      t   salt
 2      c   vegetable shortening
 2/3    c   cold milk

If you don't have a good pie crust recipe, this one will do the job.  I find
it
easy to make and taste "real" good.  Instead of shortening, I sometimes make
this with LARD (the way our ancestors did) which gives it a different texture
and taste.  (I personally like the lard version better, but it is not good for
you because of the fat and cholesterol in it).

Combine flour and salt in mixing bowl.  Cut in shortening using pastry blender
or 2 knives, until shorteningggg is in pieces about 1/2 inch (or more) square.
Pour in all but 1 tablespoon milk and toss with fingers until combined.  Add
remaining milk to moisten dry particles at bottom of bowl.  Shape into ball.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to make rolling easier.

Makes enough for 3 single-crust pies.

Extra pastry can be frozen.
