    How to upgrade
    =====================================================================

Here is the right procedure to upgrade Lora in your system:

    1. Change to your system directory (normally called C:\LORA) and
uncompress inside it the original archive, LOD241B1.ZIP (or
       LOS241B1.ZIP for the OS/2 release).

    2. Run LOD241B1.EXE (or LOS241B1.EXE for the OS/2 version).

    3. Run LSETUP for every configuration file created (by default
it reads CONFIG.DAT only) and save after checking that everything
       is ok.

The program will upgrade the files that are changed with this
    release.

    Legend: ! Bugfix
                + Addition
                * Changes
                - Removed

    Changes made with beta 1
    =====================================================================

! Fixed the management of the areachange keys ( []? ).

! If a lock baud rate is not used, Lora doesn't set the connection
speed to the speed found in the nodelist entry when polling a
       node.

+ Added the creation of a file named newarea.txt when a downlink
requests an area to areafix that is not currently present. The file
has the format <node> <tag>. It should be used coupled with LoraMant
A32 (by Marcello Ardini, 2:332/402.2). The file is created in the
       system directory.

! Fixed a bug in with the deletion of Quick-base messages.

! Fixed malfunctions found with the use of the Gold-base message base.

+ Added the exit with errorlevel when the modem doesn't answer OK to
the initialization string. If this errorlevel is set to 0 the answer
       is not checked (previous behaviour).

! Fixed a wrong reading of the cursor position by the LRPN manager.

! Fixed the managin of the INTL kludge, now it should not cause
any more problems with netmails outside the default zone.

! Now the MSGID and REPLY are not read if the address field doesn't
include a / (slash) character (it means that it is not a fido-style
       address).

! Fixed the areafix and raid management when receiving messages
addressed to a system with the same net and node as one of our akas
but with different zones. This bug may have affected the mail
       delivery in similar situations.

! Fixed a bug with the multiply of the LRPN manager.

+ Added the E command to LRPN, it terminates the command execution and
moves the pointer to the next character.

! Fixed the ratio and kb limits check when tagging files.

! Fixed the download limits check when using the Global Download
       command.

! Changed the management of the tranx number in mail sessions.

! Time limits are now checked before the start of a download a QWK or
Bluewave mail packet. As before, the KB limit is not checked, you
should limit the number of messages per packet with LSETUP.

+ Added a check on the connection speed for the outgoing calls.
If the connection speed is lesser than what defined, the call is
terminated immediatly. The minimum connection speed is defined in
       LSETUP/Nodes.

! Fixed a wrong export of echomail messages when the destination name
is the sysop of one node defined in LSETUP/Nodes.

! Fixed a bug on the squish message base that caused system hangs when
someone aborts the writing of a message and then retries to write
another message. This occurred when the user tried to save the
second message and the Lora session or system hung forcing a
       restart.

! Fixed a bug that allows a user to tag files in the Lora system
       directory.

! Fixed a bug with the duplicate packet names when the last digit of
the extension reached the 9 (th0..th9).

! When importing mail the FLAGS kludge is translated to FLUGS to avoid
problems with messages marked direct and immediate. If the kludge
doesn't contains IMM or DIR it will not touched.

! Fixed the aka matching algorithm for the netmail areas.

! Fixed message truncation if a single message was longer than 16kb.

! Now the failed connects counter is updated before the file transfer
is initiated. Before sometimes the counter was not correctly
       updated causing unwanted calls.

+ It is possible to link areas using areafix in private mode (P
flag). It is sufficient to append a P to the line that contains
the area tag to link. For example: LORA.ITA P (or +LORA.ITA P).

+ Areafix now correctly supports < and > flags when a node links an
       area.

! Fixed a bug with the export of the squish message bases that
       sometimes failed.

+ Now Areafix writes to the report (%list, %query and %unlinked) if
the area is private or not.

    *  How to use the < > P and ! flags:
Each flag should be set in the configuration for each area in the
forward lines, immediately preceding the affected node (for example:
P2:332/414). It is possible to use the short form for the nodes:
       2:332/414 P402 >.1.

       > - Denies the node from writing in an echomail area. The messages are
sent to the system but if it tries to write a message it will be
           moved to the bad messages.

< - Denies a node from receiving echomail. The node can write messages
but no messages will be exported to that node.

P - (Case insensitive). A message will be sent to a node if the
destination field of the message is the same as the sysop name
field of that node. Otherwise the message is not exported.

! Fixed a bug in the change user alias (handle) command. Now is
possible to change the alias and go back to the previous in the same
       session.

! Fixed the purge function for the Quick and Gold message bases.

! Fixed an aesthetic bug when displaying the squish areas when they
       are purged. (The overwrite bug..)

! Fixed a bug that caused the squish message bases to be completely
erased during maintenance, when using LMSG.

The following fixes/additions have been made to LSETUP.

+ Added the No init answer field in the Modem/Hardware setup. It can
be used to specify an errorlevel number with which exit to DOS if
the modem doesn't answer with an OK to the init string.

+ Added additional Yes/No verifications to certain operations within
       LSETUP.

+ Added the chance to specify a minimum connection speed for the
outgoing calls. It is part of the Manager/Nodes setup.

! Fixed an aesthetic bug with the screen when selecting the L option
       in the nodes menu.

+ Added Send only and receive only flags in BBS/Messages. Send only
means that the nodes linked to that area can only send messages but
they can't receive messages (< flag). Receive only means that no
messages are imported from those nodes (> flag).

+ Added nodes Copy in Manager/Nodes. The copy function will create
a new record with the same values as the original. The edit mode
       is automatically selected.

! Now import areas.bbs option no longer messes up the flags > < P in
       the forward lines.
