Star Burst was designed as a screen saver for Windows 3.1 to provide
constantly changing, entertaining, relaxing and novel screens, and also
provides the best screen saver from any point of view (except
entertainment value) : a Blank screen.
Star Burst has many features not available in other commercial screen
savers such as:
 > the ability for you to leave messages for people trying to access
   your computer while a module is running;
 > the ability for them to leave messages for you while you are away;
 > time stamping of any messages left for you;
 > the ability to Load (activate) IMMEDIATELY when WINDOWS activates;
 > Password Protection of the Wake Up time, the Load function and Hot
   Key combination when Password protection is set;
 > the ability to TEST different configurations without changing the
   active module;
 > activation with ALT TAB, in addition to the selected HOT KEYS,
   when HOT KEYS are set;
 > a wide selection of HOT KEYS;
 > protection from the reboot key sequence.

The memory requirements of Star Burst depend upon the video mode you
have selected and upon the module being run. The minimum memory
required is 120 kilobytes. The biggest memory hog is the Marksman
module, which requires 160 kilobytes in EGA mode (640 x 350 pixel
resolution with 16 colors) and as much as 400 kilobytes in Super VGA
modes (1024 x 768 pixel resolution with 256 colors or 640 x 480 pixel
resolution with 32768 colors). Most of the other modules require no
more than 140 kilobytes.

The amount of disk space required is less than 400 kilobytes for all
of its files.

Almost every module in Star Burst is customizable, allowing the user
great latitude in developing the screen saver display. For example,
in the modules: Pin Wheels, Plumb Loco and GeoMetric, 12 different
display types are selectable in each. The Star Bursts modules may be
fully customized, from the number of points each burst has to the
number of cycles and rotations of each.

Star Burst, unlike many commercial screen savers, does not interfere with
programs running in the "background". Many screen savers dramatically
slow down other programs and some take over system resources so much that
system crashes occur. Star Burst uses the Windows screen saver functions
and thus leaves the Windows program manager in control at all times.
