[TECH-NET PHILOSOPHY]

Our philosophy here on Tech-Net is to provide a friendly message network
for the PC technophile and, at the same time, instill a better
understanding of Personal Computing technology in the novice user.

If one phrase could sum up our mission here on Tech-Net, it would have
to be "TECHNOLOGY TO THE MASSES". We hope you can help us reach our
goal.

[TECH-NET RULES]

 1. No flaming or baiting is allowed. While it is expected that
differences of opinion are going to be encountered, it's the manner
in which you express yourself that really matters. Personal attacks,
rudeness, abusive behavior, and disrespect will not be tolerated.

 2. English is the only language approved for use on Tech-Net.

 3. The use of adult, profane, or obscene language is prohibited on
    Tech-Net.

 4. Discussion of illegal activity, including hacking, phone phreaking
    and pirating, should be avoided.

 5. You are required to comply with any Tech-Net Moderator's request.
Violation of this rule may lead to suspension or termination of your
    access to Tech-Net.

 6. Only real names are allowed on Tech-Net i.e. no aliases, handles or
    pseudonyms.

 7. There are no private messages. All conferences and messages, except
the Tech_Admin conference, are open to the public.

 8. Selling or trading of products or services of any kind is prohibited
on Tech-Net, except in the For Sale & Trade conference.

 9. ANSI Art, screens, signatures and AT codes are allowed only in the
    ANSI & BBS conferences.

10. All participants must use legally purchased and/or registered
BBS and utility software when echoing Tech-Net.

[TECH-NET MESSAGE GUIDELINES]

 1. Please avoid over-quoting. Quote just enough so participants
    can follow the thread.

 2. Taglines should be 80 characters or less, and only one user tagline
    per message is allowed.

 3. Signatures should be kept down to 240 characters and/or 3 lines
including spaces, hyphens and other separators.

 4. At present, BBS ads may only be posted in the BBS conference.

 5. Never encrypt or encode a message in any way.

 6. Since this is a technical network, validate any information you
offer, if possible. If you can't validate it, please say so.

 7. Remember there's no such thing as a stupid question, only the one
    that went unasked...

[TECH-NET MODERATOR POLICIES]

Tech-Net relies heavily on its Moderators to ensure the quality and
validity of its message base, therefore we must ensure that the
Moderators meet certain guidelines and qualifications.

 1. All Tech-Net Moderators are appointed by the Net Administrator(N.A.)
and any application may be declined for any reason by the N.A.

 2. To apply for a Moderator's position with Tech-Net, fill out the
TECH_MOD.APP file and upload it to The Archives BBS (Host System).

 3. The Moderator's primary duty is monitoring Tech-Net users
and their compliance with established Tech-Net rules and guidelines
    within their conference(s).

 4. Tech-Net Moderators are expected to read the messages in their
conference(s) on a daily basis, and are expected to write messages
    at least once a week.

 5. Moderators should be courteous at all times to the users in his
    or her assigned conference(s).

 6. Any serious problem that arises between user and Moderator should
be taken up in the TECH_MOD Conference.

 7. If a problem cannot be resolved in the Tech_Mod conference, it will
then be turned over to the Network Administration for resolution.

 8. A Moderator may be removed or suspended from official duties
by the N.A. or his staff at any time, for any reason. Though it is
doubtful that an incident like this will occur, we're covering our
    collective butts. :)
