Picture Change Manual v1.3a
The enemies' files are stored in the wad files where a four letter code
represents the enemy and a letter number patern represent position and angle,
in that order. These letters and numbers are as follows (the ? represents an
unkown letter):
A-W - depends on the object.
?0 - this object faces all directions. I.E. Dead enemy or a lamp.
?1 - this object faces you.
?2 - faces to the left (diagonal) of the screen and toward you.
?3 - faces the left side of the screen. (Left side view)
?4 - faces to the left (diagonal) and toward the back of the screen.
?5 - faces the back of the screen (you see his back).
?6 - like 4 but to the right.
?7 - like 3 but to the right.
?8 - like 2 but to the right.
?1?5 - this object both faces you and faces away.
    ?2?8 - like 2 and 8 but is fliped horizontally for 8
    ?3?7 - like 3 and 7 but is fliped horizontally for 7
    ?4?6 - like 4 and 6 but is fliped horizontally for 6
    ?6?4 - like 6 and 4 but is fliped horizontally for 4
    ?7?3 - like 7 and 3 but is fliped horizontally for 3
    ?8?2 - like 8 and 2 but is fliped horizontally for 2

Tutorials:
    Easy stuff:
Converting any prexisting thing on the list to a different prexisting
thing on the list is simple. The following is an example of how to change
the Barons of Hell into Caco Demons. This only changes the pictures. The
Barons of Hell will still be harder to kill than the Caco Demons, but will
look exactly like a Caco Demon.
1: At the DOS prompt, type Pchng <enter>
2: At the prompt "What do you want to call the batch?" type BOSSHEAD <enter>
3: At the prompt "What is the four letter code for the destination?" type
    BOSS <enter>
4: At the prompt "What is the four letter code for the source?" type HEAD
    <enter>
5: Then the program will create the new batch file and drop to DOS.
6: To use your new batch, type BOSSHEAD <enter> at the DOS prompt.
7: To change the Barons of Hell back to their original state, type
    UN-BOSSH.

What you have just done can easily be done with any of the other things on
the list, simply change the four letter destination and source codes.

Using External pictures
Using external pictures, (pictures not indigenous to DOOM, such as ones
you may create your self) is a little harder. If you are planning on
using your own, we recommend the program Neopaint by OCS Software,
(503)389-5489. A fully functional sharware version is availible on most
 online services.
At this time Picture Change on supports pictures in the GIF and PPM
formats, and flip only supports PPM files. Other file formats will be
 availible in future versions.
1: At the DOS prompt, type PCHNG <enter>.
2: At the prompt "What do you want to call the batch file" type the name that
you wish to use.
3: At the prompt "What is the four letter code for the destination?" type INFO
<enter>
4: At the propmt "What is the four letter code for the source?" type the four
letter code of the object you want to change <enter>
5: At the prompt "Do you want the information on this thing printed?" type Yes
<enter>.
NOTE: The batch file will contain the information that is printed.
6: Name the external files you plan to swap with a four character beginning and
the corresponding endings you will be changing, since this probably makes no
sense to you, we will demonstrate.
Say you wanted to change a former Sargent's splatter sequence frame one. You
would rename the file you plan to replace the original sequence with SPLTM0. Make
sure to use a zero and not an O.
7: Repeat step 6 with all other pictures used for that object.
8: Make sure ALL files that you plan to use are located in the Doom directory along
with pchng and dmgraph.
9: Type PCHNG -F SPOSSPLT -C SPOS -S SPLT -AY -J SPOS <enter>.
10: At the prompt "What the extension for the external files without the dot?" Type
PPM or GIF depending on the files' entension <enter>
11: Then PCHNG will compile the executible batch files.
12: Your new batch files can be used the same way the batch files created in the
first tutorial are used.
13: Enjoy!
