                               PCLOAN5
                 PROFESSIONAL LOAN AMORTIZATION SYSTEM

                     Version 5.09 09-01-93

The file PCLOAN5.ZIP contains all the files needed by the PCLOAN5 loan
amortization system. These files are stored in a condensed format and
must be removed before the system can be used.

FLOPPY DISK SYSTEMS

As distributed, PCLOAN5 looks for its data in the startup directory.
This works for hard disks and for floppy disks with at least 720K
capacity. It will not work on a 5 1/4 inch 362K floppy disk.

The software completely fills a 5 1/4 inch 362K floppy disk leaving no
room for data files. If your floppy disks hold as much as 720K, you may
place both the programs and the data files on the same disk.

Once the system is up and running, the option menu will allow you to
define any configuration you like. You can place the program in any
directory of any disk and the data in any directory of any disk. See the
manual for details.

To execute the system from two 362K floppy disks, first copy the program
file, PCLOAN5.EXE, and the parameter file, PC5PARM.DBF to the program
disk. Use the Options Data menu item (see the manual) to tell the
system to create its data files on drive B:. There is an example setup
in the manual. Next copy the help files, PC5HELP.DBF and PC5HELP.DBT to
a second disk. This disk will be the data disk. Also copy the file
PC5PARM.DBF to the data disk AFTER CHANGING THE DATA PATH.

A previously prepared parameter file PCPARM.B may be used by copying to
BOTH the program disk AND to the data disk which will be used in drive
B: Now place the program disk in drive A:, the data disk in drive B:,
log on to drive A: and type the command PCLOAN5<return>. NOTE! PC5PARM.B
will work ONLY on a two floppy disk system with the program in drive A:
and the data on drive B:

PRINTING THE MANUAL

The manual is in the file called MANUAL.DOC. It is completely formatted
for 8 1/2 by 11 inch pages with your printer set to 10 characters per
inch. Use the DOS PRINT command , or the DOS COPY command to print it.

    eg:

    A>PRINT MANUAL.DOC

When you are asked for the name of the print device, press <return>.

    eg:

    A>COPY MANUAL.DOC PRN:

LASER PRINTERS

Most laser printers believe an 8 1/2 x 11 inch page has 60 lines. We
know better however and must instruct it that the page has 66 lines.

This can be done by software if you have a program to do it. If you do
not have a printer control program several nice ones are available as
shareware.

Absent a control program, you must consult with the dreaded manual. HP
laser printers can be set from the menu. If you do so, don't forget to
reset it. The menu selections are not effective until the printer is
reset.
