This month we take a look at a Windows Mail Reader. It comes to us
    from Brazil.

                          Windows Mail Reader

                             by Tony Curro

I usually prepare many messages before I have a mail packet. Using a
DOS mail reader is a snap to import these. However, using a Windows
mail reader turns this into a monumental task. That is until I
    discovered UniQWK.

UniQWK comes to us from Brazil. Not only will it do the above
smoothly, it is also a multilingual reader in which you can select
English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Documents included are also in
these three languages. To take this up one more notch, you also can
add speech and sound files to your messages.

Installation is quick and requires little disk space. The first time
you run UniQWK you must set your defaults. You can change these at
any time. It comes with an internal editor, but allows you to use an
external DOS editor. I opted for my favorite, QEDIT. Whenever I want
to enter a new message, the program runs QEDIT, lets me import my
message, and then saves it. There is a button bar at the top of the
screen that gives you control over all aspects of UniQWK. You can:
Open and Close packets, Enable and Disable sound, Enter and Reply to
Messages, Go to Area or Conference, etc.

I have one complaint with UniQWK. I sometimes do not remember the
subject of my messages. When I enter a new message, I must give it a
subject BEFORE I go into QEDIT. I would like to have the option to
do this AFTER I import my message. For many people this is not a
problem, but for me it is. UniQWK also will not read more than 512
    conferences from a mail packet.

I have used, owned, and beta tested Windows mail readers. Until I
stumbled across UniQWK, I had accepted that NO mail reader for
Windows would ever do it my way. Well, UniQWK does it my way, and I
think that any Windows user out there who downloads this file will
also be pleased. It is well worth the $30 US registration fee. Look
for filename UNIQWK.ZIP on the boards.
