Berkeley Systems, makers of After Dark, engage us on a new adventure
where "No one has gone before." We venture into space with Captain
Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, and the rest of the Star Trek crew.

This is not a game. It is a screen saver for Windows. Those who have
used, or seen, After Dark, will know what to expect. Star Trek uses
the same engine as After Dark. If you already have After Dark 2.0 or
higher installed, the installation will update After Dark to accept
these added blankers. Those who have never seen After Dark are in
for a new experience. These are screen savers with a twist. They
have animation and sound. After Dark brought you Flying Toasters,
and bread you could make light, medium, or dark. This was one of the
    many savers in After Dark.

Star Trek gives you 17 screen savers to choose from. Hear the voices
of McCoy, Spock, and the rest of the crew. Star Trek, as did After
Dark, supports sound cards that are installed in your system.

Installation is not complicated. Easiest way is to let the program
use all its defaults. This option sets up Star Trek to run each time
    you start up Windows.

Once, you have Star Trek running double-click on the icon to set it
    up. Now you can specify the amount of time before blanking occurs;
hot corner for immediate blanking; which screen saver you wish to
run. The last option is varied. Besides the 17 savers, you can
select either Randomize or MultiMode. Randomize cycles through all
the savers, or you can select those you wish to run or not run, and
in which order. MultiMode allows you to have several different
savers on the screen at one time. There is a preview feature that
lets you test each saver to pick the one you like. You can also
    Password protect your system.

All the savers are animated and have sound. However, if you prefer,
you can have it create a black screen devoid of either animation or
sound. I ran into a problem using WinSpeed on my ATI VGA XL24 card.
For some reason I always got a protection error in the video driver.
This only occurred using the WinSpeed driver. Using the default
Windows driver, or the drivers that came with the ATI card, I had no
    problems.

If you run a DOS application full screen, Star Trek will not engage.
To have Star Trek blank the screen when using a DOS application, the
DOS application must be: (1) running in a window and, (2) Not the
active window. You can only use the hot corner to blank the screen
when the DOS application is the active window.

WallZapper is another part of Star Trek. If you are using a saver
that you like, you can, by pressing CTRL-Shift-Z keys 'ZAP' the
screen, thus creating a bitmap, which will then become your
background when you return to Windows.

I found some very interesting screens in this package. If you are a
'Trekkie,' you will enjoy these varied screens. If you are not, you
will be in for a new experience.
