                           HELP FILE

* SCROLLING * Get to the end of your text by pressing
  "ENTER" twice.
Get to the beginning of your text by pressing "SHIFT",
  up arrow.

* CURSOR MOVES * Move the cursor through text with the
arrows; you can make left and right arrow move faster by
  holding down "SHIFT" as well.
A fast way to get through text is by pressing the space bar, which makes the cursor move one word at a time. You can also press the period (.) and the cursor will jump to the next period, or press "p" and the cursor will go to the end of the paragraph.

 * TAB SET * Set tabs by first pressing "t", then moving
the cursor with the space bar or right arrow; When the
cursor is where you want the tab set, press "t". After
you've set all tabs, press "t" again, then "ENTER". If you
get into Tab Set inadvertently and want to get out, press
  "CLEAR", "ENTER".

 * OVERTYPING * Overtyping should be used only when a few
characters are wrong. If you've typed "test" when you meant
"text", move the cursor to the "s", press "o" enter the
right character (in this case, "x"), then press "ENTER".

 * INSERT * There are two types of "insert": If you have
a lot of material to insert, press "I" (capital "I"). If
you have only a small amount to insert, press "i" (small
"i"). Either way, you need to position the cursor on the
character just after where you want to begin inserting.
You'll see a bigger cursor on the screen and, remember,
your new inserted text will start to the left of this
  cursor.
When you're finished inserting, if you don't like what you've added or didn't do it right, press "BREAK" your old text will be restored. If you like your insert, press "ENTER".

* DELETE * To delete material, place the cursor on the
first character you wish to delete. Then press "d". Press
"d" again to delete that character; keep pressing "d" or
press the space bar to delete a word at a time or the
period (".") to delete to the end of the sentence. You can
restore what you've deleted by pressing "BREAK". You can
delete material from the bottom of the file by placing the
cursor at the end of the text you want to retain, then
press "!". Succeeding material will be gone.

* UNDERLINING * To underline what you have written, move
the cursor to where you want to start underlining, then
  press "u".  The words will be replaced with broken lines;
to restore the words, press ";".

* FIND * To find a word or phrase in your text, press
"F" (capital "F"). Answer the prompt with the word or
phrase you want found, then press "ENTER" and the cursor
will jump to the first occurrence of that word.

* FIND AND REPLACE * Press "F" (capital "F"), same as
above, but after you enter the word you want found, enter
"<" then the word you want to replace it with. (example:
  art<paintings)
Press "ENTER" and the cursor will go to the first occurrence of the word in your text. Now you'll see another prompt ("Replace?") on the bottom of the screen. If you want the new word to replace the old, press "r"; if not, press "f" to go on to the next occurrence. Pressing "R" (capital "R") will replace all occurrences of the old word with the new word.

* BLOCK MOVES * Mark the block with parentheses and, if you want to name the block, put the name in front of the
block. Move the cursor to the new location for the block.
Press "b" to move it to the new location; press "B"
(capital "B") to move it to the new location, but leave it
on the old location as well.
      You'll see the prompt "Find
What?" and can either write in the block name and press "ENTER" or just press "ENTER".

* CASE CHANGE * To change case of a character, place the cursor on the character you wish to change and press
"c". On upper case only machines, see case by pressing ";". This will display capitals with "#"; this will also
show underlining (with -----), and down line feeds (with
  arrows).

* AUTOCAP * To capitalise all first letters in a
sentence and all freestanding "I"s, press "C" (capital
  "C").
* COLUMN DISPLAY * To see your text in a specified
column width, press "v". In answer to the prompt, type in the width (in characters) you want (between 2 and 256).
Press "ENTER". To get back to a normal screen, press "v" again and enter "64" as the width, then press "ENTER".

* MULTI-FUNCTION COMMAND * This command cannot be explained briefly, but it begins with pressing "X" (capital
"X"). The initial prompt says "Which Command Key (1 -0)?".
You then type in the number for the command key you want to
use. The next prompt says "Command Key Set-Up?" and then you begin entering your custom command. If you've pressed
"X" (capital "X") and now don't want to enter any commands, press "SHIFT", "ENTER" to get back to normal Edit.
