PC Dial is a stand-alone Modem COMM/dialing utility with some interesting
features not available with any other dialing program in the Model 4
public domain market.

Unlike most other terminal communications software which include a phone
directory, usually limited in both its function and capacity, this program
is a specialized communications tool less concerned with terminal features

PC Dial Requirements:

PC Dial runs on a Model 4/4P/4D Microcomputer equipped with a minimum of
64K RAM and 1 floppy disk. PC Dial also requires a Hayes compatable MODEM
(300/1200 and optionally, 2400 BAUD).

Files included with this ARC:

                              PCDIAL/CMD - The main program
                              PCDIAL/OV1 - Online HELP file
                              PCDIAL/TXT - Youre reading it

Files created during runtime:

                              PCDIAL/CFG - Configuration File
                              PCDIAL/DAT - Directory Database

The program is basically self-explanatory from the very beginning. You're
guided through the program via a series of menus the moment you load and
run PCDIAL/CMD.

To start the program, just type PCDIAL [ENTER] from TR/LSDOS Ready prompt
and follow the instructions, answering all questions as they are asked. I
have tried to make it as easy as possible to use the first time.

PC Dial's most outstanding feature is it's compatability with PC Pursuit,
a data network available in almost every major city in the United States.
PC Dial can call any Pursuitable number you have entered in the directory
automatically. It will log onto PC Pursuit, connect with a long distance
exchange, dial the number of the board you wish to connect with, and log
you on, all automatically. PC Dial may also be used to dial local or long
distance numbers directly, over ordinary telephone lines.

The dialing directory is limited only by the amount of disk space that is
available to you. The directory can hold approximately 1,673 entries on
one 174K floppy diskette. That's about 9 entries per 1K of disk space.

For more detailed help on using the dialing directory, just press the F1
key while in the program. PC Dial is deceptively simple to learn and use
and a lifesaver for those who subscribe to PC Pursuit.

******************************** SHAREWARE ******************************

PC DIAL is being introduced as SHAREWARE. I am asking you for a donation
if you use and enjoy this program. I write software for the Model 4 as a
Hobby and because I enjoy it, but I can no longer afford to distribute it
except in those areas that are PC Pursuitable. Therefore It would be very
much appreciated (if you don't send in a donation) if you would pass this
program onto other Model 4 owners (in the original ARC, please!). Thanks.

Send $5.00 (aka HELPWARE) to:

CASH, CHECK, or MONEY ORDER. Keep the Model 4 alive and kicking! Thanks
for using PCDIAL!
