 ***************************************************************************

Welcome to the newest release of FastPlus II. This release is significantly
different from the one you are using now to warrant this quick help file.
I sincerely hope you are reading this BEFORE you try using the program. If not
you're going to have some big surprises!

FIRST OF ALL

If this is the first copy you have gotten on the distribution disk, the manual
at present doesn't jive with the program in some areas. Specifically when you
reply to a message, secondly when uploading, you will now receive a free space
message. Other than that, there is on additional file (FASTPLUS/CFG) which
is provided. If you have questions, write or call my BBS.

NEXT IN LINE...

Some back ground notes first. When FastPlus was first designed it contained the
configuration file within itself. While this worked wonderful for me to utilize
writing it, at the same time it was also a pain to update when new releases
were available. SO somewhere in the back of my mind (amid the cobwebs) there
was a thought to make it like FastTerm and have a seperate configuration file.
So this past month I have been busy coding a set of routines to accomplish
this. Once that part was done, then I had to change the FPCONFIG/CMD program to
refer to the /CFG file instead of FastPlus II itself. And now as this file
points out, that has been done too.

UPGRADE PROCEDURE

First order of business is to hide all these files from yourself. Use your OLD
FPCONFIG/CMD on your original (current) FastPlus II and select each option from
the menu and do a SCREEN dump of it (so you have something to work from). Once
you have that done, turf out all your old copies of FastPlus II, FPCONFIG and
replace them with your new FASTPLUS and FPCONFIG you found in this ARCHIVE. You
do not have to remove ANY files generated by FastPlus such as download catalog,
users, messages or bulletins. You'll notice that you also have one extra file
and that is FASTPLUS/CFG. This is the actual configuration file which you are
going to configure now and you may store it on any drive. The filename MUST be
FASTPLUS/CFG.

When FastPlus executes it will automatically load in this file and configures
itself to it. For any future versions of FastPlus II it is only a matter of
replacing your FastPlus II program. No more having to reconfigure each time.
Sweet joy!

Use your screen dumps from the old FastPlus II to change the configuration in
the new version. Once you have it done, save it and exit and you can run
FastPlus the same as you always have.

PLEASE!!!! Note the modem selection screen in FPCONFIG has changed GREATLY! It
now supports a few different kinds of HAYES and compatible type modems. Where
the user defintion string for modem activation used to show up is now where the
current modem string will show. For two reasons. #1 it is easier to see what
string FastPlus II is using, #2 it saved me some memory for future add ons. If
you have trouble, don't hesitate to ask me about it.

CHANGES TO VERSION 2.0

When replying to a message, if you reply to a message which was not TO or
FROM you, there is now an option (providing REPLY was enabled in the first
place), to select WHICH one you want to reply to. Selection choices are
A for TO, B for FROM or E for exit. Easy to use and remember.

When uploading, FastPlus II will ALWAYS (unless you have a major disk error)
report the AMOUNT of space remaining on the upload drive for file storage.

Thats it for this version. Of course many more changes were made internally
than what you see cosmetically.

IN CLOSING...

As always if you have trouble, don't understand something, I'm only as far away
as the BBS. Support for a complex item like FastPlus II is a must for me. I am
glad to hear you're all enjoying it.
