                           HELP FILE
  IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE THE "HELP FILE", PRESS "BREAK".
  
  1. Enter and leave Edit by pressing "BREAK".

  2.  *  SCROLLING  *  Get to the end of your text by pressing
  "ENTER" twice.
     Get  to  the  beginning of your text by pressing "SHIFT",
  up arrow.

  3.  *  CURSOR MOVES *  Move the cursor through text with the
  arrows; you can make left and right  arrow  move  faster  by
  holding  down  "SHIFT"  as  well.

  CURSOR MOVES (CON'T)               A fast way to get through
  text is by pressing the space bar, which  makes  the  cursor
  move  one word at a time.  You can also press the period (.)
  and the cursor will jump to the next period,  or  press  "p"
  and the cursor will go to the end of the paragraph.

  4. * TAB SET * Set tabs by first pressing "t",  then  moving
  the  cursor  with  the  space  bar  or right arrow; When the
  cursor is where you want  the  tab  set,  press  "t".  After
  you've  set  all tabs, press "t" again, then "ENTER". If you
  get into Tab Set inadvertently and want to  get  out,  press
  "CLEAR", "ENTER".

  5. * OVERTYPING * Overtyping should be used only when a  few
  characters  are wrong. If you've typed "test" when you meant
  "text", move the cursor to the  "s",  press  "o"  enter  the
  right character (in this case, "x"), then press "ENTER".

  6. * INSERT * There are two types of "insert": If  you  have
  a  lot  of  material  to insert, press "I" (capital "I"). If
  you have only a small amount to insert,  press  "i"  (small
  "i").  Either  way,  you  need to position the cursor on the
  character just after where  you  want  to  begin  inserting.
  You'll  see  a  bigger  cursor  on the screen and, remember,
  your new inserted text  will  start  to  the  left  of  this
  cursor.

  INSERT (CON'T)  When  you're  finshed  inserting, if you        don't like what you've added or didn't do it  right, press     "BREAK"  -  your  old  text  will be restored.  If you like      your insert, press "ENTER".

  7.  *  DELETE *  To delete material, place the cursor on the
  first character you wish to delete. Then  press  "d".  Press
  "d"  again  to  delete  that character; keep pressing "d" or
  press the space bar to delete  a  word  at  a  time  or  the
  period  (".")  to delete to the end of the sentence. You can
  restore what you've deleted by  pressing  "BREAK".  You  can
  delete  material  from the bottom of the file by placing the
  cursor at the end of the  text  you  want  to  retain,  then
  press "!". Succeeding material will be gone.

  8. * UNDERLINING * To underline what you have written,  move
  the  cursor  to  where  you  want to start underlining, then
  press "u".  The words will be replaced  with  broken  lines;
  to restore the words, press ";".

  9 * FIND *  To find a word or phrase  in  your  text,  press
  "F"  (capital  "F").  Answer  the  prompt  with  the word or
  phrase you want found, then press  "ENTER"  and  the  cursor
  will jump to the first occurrence of that word.

  10 * FIND AND REPLACE *  Press "F" (capital  "F"),  same  as
  above,  but  after  you enter the word you want found, enter
  "<" then the word you want to  replace  it  with.  (example:
  art<paintings)

FIND AND REPLACE (CON'T)  Press "ENTER" and the cursor will go to the first occurrence of the word in your text.  Now  you'll  see  another  prompt ("Replace?") on the bottom of the screen. If you want the new word to replace  the  old,  press  "r";  if not,  press  "f"  to  go on to the next occurrence. Pressing "R" (capital "R") will replace all occurrences  of  the  old   word with the new word.

  11. * BLOCK MOVES *  Mark the block  with  parentheses  and,
  if  you want to name the block, put the name in front of the
  block. Move the cursor to the new location  for  the  block.
  Press  "b"  to  move  it  to  the  new  location;  press "B"
  (capital "B") to move it to the new location, but  leave  it
  on  the  old  location  as well.

   BLOCK MOVES (CON'T)            You'll see the prompt "Find
  What?" and can either write in  the  block  name  and  press
  "ENTER" or just press "ENTER".

  12. * CASE CHANGE *  To change case of  a  character,  place
  the  cursor  on  the  character you wish to change and press
  "c".  On upper case only  machines,  see  case  by  pressing
  ";".  This  will  display  capitals with "#"; this will also
  show underlining (with -----), and  down  line  feeds  (with
  arrows).

  13. * AUTOCAP  *  To  capitalize  all  first  letters  in  a
  sentence  and  all  freestanding  "I"s,  press  "C" (capital
  "C").

  14.  *  COLUMN  DISPLAY  *  To see your text in a specified
  column width, press "v".  In answer to the prompt, type  in
  the width (in characters) you want (between 2 and 256).
  Press "ENTER".  To get back to a normal  screen,  press  "v"
  again and enter "64" as the width, then press "ENTER".

  15.  *  MULTI-FUNCTION  COMMAND  *  This  command  cannot  be
  explained  briefly, but it begins with pressing "X" (capital
  "X"). The initial prompt says "Which Command Key  (1  -0)?".
  You  then type in the number for the command key you want to
  use. The next prompt says "Command  Key  Set-Up?"  and  then
  you  begin  entering  your custom command. If you've pressed
  "X" (cpaital "X") and now don't want to enter any  commands,
  press "SHIFT", "ENTER" to get back to normal Edit.

  16 * HELP  FILE  *  You  are  now  viewing  the  help  file,
  entered  by  pressing  "h".  You  can  add your own ideas to
  this file by loading this file  from  DOS,  using  the  file
  name  "help".  Then edit this material in the normal way and
  save it as "help".
  
  LEAVE THIS HELP FILE BY PRESSING "BREAK".
