SPECIAL NOTE TO LAZY WRITER USERS

The Lazy Writer(tm) word processing program tends to save its
files in a non-standard manner. One of the things it does in
saving files is replace all carriage returns (ASCII 13) with
linefeeds (ASCII 10). This causes TEXT-MERGE to break lines
improperly and do other undesirable things. If your copy of
Lazy Writer has not been modified to save carriage returns,
you can still get TEXT-MERGE to process a Lazy Writer file
properly by using the command,

                       TMERGE L<enter>

instead of simply TMERGE. The "L" switch will cause TEXT-MERGE
to change all linefeeds to carriage returns when it reads the
form letter file from disk into its data area.

Also, if you are using an old version of Lazy Writer, you are
painfully aware of the fact that it saves files in REVERSE
CASE -- i.e., upper case letters are converted to lower and
vice versa. You can get TMERGE to compensate for this with the
command,

                      TMERGE LR <enter>

The "LR" switch will force the case of all letters A-Z in your
form letter file to be reversed as the file is read into the
data area in memory. Numbers, special symbols, and the data
from the PowerMAIL ADDER file will not be affected. Note that
"LR" also implies the "L" switch. "R" by itself is
meaningless.

In either case, linefeeds (ASCII 10) cannot be used to create
special print effects if the form letter file is created by
Lazy Writer (see manual).
