TRS-80 Model 4 KERMIT (version 5.2) source code
Compuserve Information Service, LDOS Forum

The files that constitute the source code for Model 4 KERMIT version 5.2
are contained in the three files M4MIT1.LBR, M4MIT2.LBR, and M4MIT3.LBR.
M4MIT1.LBR contains this KREADME/TXT file, M4MIT/HLP, and the first group
of /ASM files for the KERMIT program itself. M4MIT2.LBR contains the
remainder of the source code for the KERMIT program, and M4MIT3.LBR holds
the source code for the H19 emulator-filter and its setup program. All the
Model 4 files in Columbia University's KERMIT distribution are included,
with the following exceptions:

M4MIT.HEX, M4H19.HEX, M4H19S.HEX, and M4MIT.DOC are already available in
this Forum's data libraries as KERMIT.CMD, H19.FLT, SETH19.CMD, and
KERMIT.DQC respectively. M4BOO.BAS is not needed, as the .CMD and .FLT
files have already been "dehexified". M4MIT.NR, which was used to produce
M4MIT.DOC, has also been omitted.

The function of each file in the source code is described in KERMIT/DOC.
If you're wondering why all the file names begin with M4, Columbia
University's convention requires that all KERMIT files for a particular
machine begin with a unique two-character combination, and so M4*.* will
find all the Model 4 files (and nothing else) in the KERMIT distribution.

Note that M4CHGS/ASM is a text file, NOT source code. Also, the date given
in M4MIT/HLP should be October 1986, not January.

If you're interested in learning more about the Kermit protocol, the book
_Kermit: A File Transfer Protocol_, by Frank Da Cruz (Digital Press, 1987)
is strongly recommended.
