The four JCLs in this library (HD10M4/JCL, HD10M3/JCL, TRSBOOT/JCL and
LBOOT/JCL) are intended as a guide for those of you who wish to partition their
new Aerocomp HDs. As of this writing the new Aerocomp HDs are *NOT* supported
by Powersoft. The supplied driver(s) have a JCL file included, but will only
format the entire drive for one system. If you wish to partition the drive
rather than use the "stock" configuration supplied -- they [Aerocomp] tell you
to mod the JCL file, but there isn't the foggiest notion of how to do it.

From the TRSDOS Ready I entered the following commands:
               ROUTE *PR SCREEN/DMP
               LINK *DO *PR
Then whatever appeared on screen would be written to a disk file called
SCREEN/DMP. (The only thing I had to remember was to RESET *PR after I ran the
JCL file, otherwise the disk file would not close.) After I ran the JCL I
studied the JCL _and_ the prompts to my heart's content using my word
processor.

The JCL responses deal with the head number to be used, the starting track
number, the number of tracks and that sort of thing.

These JCLs are for a 10 Meg. Aerocomp hard disk drive. The two HD10 JCLs
will install the drivers, format the hard disk and then prompt you to sysgen
and transfer the system to hard disk. The two boot JCLs will install the
drivers, turn on the clock and get the correct time via GETTIME (delete these
two lines with your word processer if you do not want them), and transfer the
system to hard disk. On head 1 will be the TRSDOS system; on head 2 will be
the TRSDOS data; on head 3 will be the LDOS system; and on head 4 will be the
LDOS data. When the hard disk is running drives 0 and 1 will be on the hard
disk. Former floppies 0 and 1 are now 2 and 3.

If you wish to partition for CP/M there is a 27-page .DOC file on the CP/M
driver disk to supply the needed information.

Remember to make a backup of your boot disk(s). It is JUST as important
as a backup of the HD. You can't get at the HD without a bootdisk!

Enjoy your new hard dick drive. <== Bill Evans ==>
