This is a Trs-80 model 4 utility by David Huelsmann to create SEA-type $/ARC or $/PAK files. It is highly recommended! The following is from READ/FST. There are a number of enhancements made to the ARC4 Version 03.00.00 utilities. First off, the names have changed to ARC4E from ARC4EXT and ARC4A from ARC4ADD. Next, the "S" command is no longer used to switch compression methods. That has now been changed to the "C" command. Also, ARC4E will now extract squashed files and ARC4A will create squashed files. You will need two banks of extended RAM to create squashed files with ARC4A and you will need one bank of extended RAM to extract squashed files with ARC4E. Note that Crunching is now about 10% faster than it was in ARC4ADD. Also note that revision has been made to the Adapative Reset coding that will result in improved compression rates of about 5-7% depending upon the composition of the file and its size. Squashing will run about 10% slower than Crunching tho Squashing is only about 6% slower than Crunching under ARC4ADD. Read the documentation for the full scoop on all of the changes. David Huelsmann Please note: The ARC4A 3.0.0 files from ARC4V3/CMD have been moved to ARC4AV30/ARC. The ARC4E files have been replaced with release 3.0.1 in ARC4EV31/ARC.
