		   NetWizard Product Administrator
	     Product distribution and administration
			for LANs and WANs
		   -------------------------------
			  Version 2.10
			     2/15/95

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
-------------------------------------------------------
The NetWizard(TM) Product Administrator, provided with certain DCA(R)
products, allows you to efficiently distribute and administer those products
to users on your network. It includes a custom utility (editor) for each
product with which it is packaged, allowing you to easily install and
configure that product on each user's PC.

Using the NetWizard Product Administrator, you create a graphical
representation of your network, including network directories and/or remote
PC hard drives in a local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN).

Once you have created this graphical representation, you can distribute
DCA product files to a single PC, a specific groups of PCs, or all the PCs
in your LAN or WAN, all from a single PC.

UPGRADING
-------------------------------------------------------
If upgrading from NPA v1.5 to NPA v2.1 you must reinstall agents by building
new media and installing each agent serarately, or contact the Technical
Services Department for assistance.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR SHARED WINDOWS USERS
-------------------------------------------------------
If you are sharing Windows on a file server, be sure to install
the NetWizard Product Administrator when Windows is not in use on any other
PC.

If you have multiple shared Windows directories, you must copy the
following files from your shared Windows directory to all others. Be sure
to do this when Windows is not in use at the target destinations.

COMPOBJ.DLL OLE2DISP.DLL
CTL3D.DLL OLE2NLS.DLL
OLE2.DLL OLE2PROX.DLL
OLE2CONV.DLL STORAGE.DLL

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTICES
-------------------------------------------------------
1. The NetWizard Product Administrator requires Microsoft(R) Windows(TM)
version 3.1 running in enhanced protected mode.

2. For the best performance, it is recommended that you run the NetWizard
Product Administrator on a 33 MHZ (or greater) PC with at least 8MB of
    RAM.

The memory requirements for the Workstation Agents are not as
significant. Testing has been performed on 16 MHZ PCs with as little
    as 2MB of RAM.

3. For all PCs running the NetWizard Product Administrator program, the
TEMP=DOS environment variable must not point to a removable media and
should have at least 5MB or more free.

4. If you are using IPX, make sure you are running IPX version 3.1
or newer, or IPXODI version 1.20 or newer. The NetWizard Product
Administrator is not compatible with IPX versions prior to 3.1 and
IPXODI versions prior to 1.20. In addition, all PCs must have the same
version of IPX for proper communication with one another.

With IPX, the NetWizard Product Administrator program communicates with
the Workstation Agents via their local IPX addresses. To allow the
Workstation Agents to communicate with the NetWizard Product
Administrator program, the NetWizard Product Administrator program does
SAP advertising based on its network name. If you do not want the
NetWizard Product Administrator program to do SAP advertising, change
its network name to your PC's IPX address. Be sure to include
an asterisk (*) before the IPX address, as shown in the following
    example:

    *50-C0987654321

You can use the Windows program CHECKIPX.EXE (provided with the
NetWizard Product Administrator) to get the IPX address for your PC.

To change the NetWizard Product Administrator network name, select
Network from the Options menu and complete the Network Configuration
    dialog box.

5. If you are using NetBIOS and plan to perform distributions across
LAN segments, add the following command to the SHELL.CFG file
on each PC (including the PC used to run the NetWizard Product
    Administrator):

    NETBIOS INTERNET=ON

6. If you are using Banyan(R) Vines(R), you must register a
StreetTalk name that matches the NetWizard Product Administrator's
network name with the Banyan Server. By default this name is NWIZARD,
but you can change it during installation or by selecting Network from
the Options menu and completing the Network Configuration dialog box.

7. If you are using TCP/IP, the administrator's network name must be
    an IP address.

8. If you change the NetWizard Product Administrator's network name and
users have already installed the Workstation Agent, you must build new
Workstation Agent installation media using the Build Agent Install
Media dialog box and reinstall the Workstation Agent on all PCs.

9. The NetWizard Product Administrator program must be running when users
install the Workstation Agent via the peer method and while distributions
are in progress. Exiting the NetWizard Product Administrator while a
distribution is in progress may cause distributions to fail or remain
    pending.

10. You should not install the Workstation Agent on the same PC used
to run the NetWizard Product Administrator. However, if you do, the
name specified with the -N parameter during Workstation Agent
installation must match the Network Name specified during NetWizard
    Product Administrator installation.

In addition, if you are using either IPX or IPC, you must copy
the NetWizard Product Administrator's WINTRANS.DLL to the
    WINDOWS\WSAGENT subdirectory.

11. All nodes added to a logical tree are given a unique Control File
Location. This is a directory created by the NetWizard Product
Administrator for storing distribution scripts and status information.
Drive mapping is not provided for this directory. Because of this,
administrators who want to share a logical tree file (*.NDB) must use
the same drive letter mappings for these directories.

12. Do not use the NetWizard Product Administrator to distribute files with
invalid date and time stamps (i.e., files dated after Jan 18, 2038).

13. Be sure to build Workstation Agent media (DOS, Windows(TM), Branch) in
different directories. It is important not to overwrite the Workstation
Agent installation script files (INSTALL.INI, NETWORK.INI and COPY.INI).

KNOWN LIMITATIONS
-------------------------------------------------------
1. UNC names are not supported by WINBOOT. When using WINBOOT to install
new agents, the path written in the login script must use the drive
mapped letters and not the full UNC name, ie:

	Correct: H:\ICC\NAS\NWIZARD\WINAGENT\WINBOOT.EXE

	Incorrect: \\PRODUCT/SYS:\\ICC\NAS\NWIZARD\WINAGENT\WINBOOT.EXE

2. Branch agents normally pass on all arguments to their agents. The option
of "Do not undo subsequent distributions" while using UNDO is not being
    passed currently.
