 1.0  NETWARE TN3270
 ===================

 1.1  NetWare TN3270 Session Support
 ===================================

   To support a large number of sessions (for example, 2,000), do the
   following:

   1. If you are using only one TCP/IP network with one physical network
      adapter on the NetWare for SAA server, make sure that the network
      adapter can support a heavy traffic load. Also, it is advisable to
      dedicate different network adapters for client to the NetWare for SAA
      server connection (for TCP/IP traffic), and for the connection between
      the NetWare for SAA server to the host (for SNA traffic).

   2. To support a high number of sessions (for example, 500 or more), you
      may have to increase the number of Maximum Receive Packet Buffers
      accordingly. To do so, decrease the Maximum Physical Receive Packet
      Size proportionally, depending on the amount of memory available and
      the version of NetWare on the server.

      You can set these two parameters on the NetWare server by
      modifying the STARTUP.NCF file or by using the SET command at the file
      server console prompt.

   3. In addition to items 1 and 2 above, if you have an EISA computer
      running under NetWare 3.12, set the server parameter as follows:

      AUTO REGISTER MEMORY ABOVE 16 MB = ON

      If you have an ISA computer running under NetWare 3.12, you must specify
      the REGISTER MEMORY START ADDRESS LENGTH parameter in the AUTOEXEC.NCF
      file. Review your NetWare manual for further details.

      Also set the SHORT TERM MEMORY ALLOCATION to the appropriate value.
      The default is 2MB; the maximum value is 16MB.

 1.2 Loading and Unloading NetWare TN3270
 ===========================================

   NetWare for SAA loads NetWare TN3270 automatically if NetWare TN3270 is
   configured. NetWare TN3270 is considered to be configured if the Host PU
   profile list in NetWare TN3270 record is not empty. For information on
   configuring NetWare TN3270, see Chapter 9 "Configuring NetWare TN3270" in
   the NetWare for SAA 2.0 Administration Guide for Mainframes and Peer
   Nodes.

   NetWare TN3270 is unloaded under two conditions: 1) When you unload NetWare
   for SAA by issuing the SAADOWN command at the server console prompt,
   or 2) By issuing the UNLOAD NWTN3270 command at the server console prompt.

 ==============================================================================
 2.0 KNOWN PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS
 ==================================

   1. Loading CSStatus immediately after loading the Communication Executive
      (COMMEXEC)--either in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file or at the command line--
      causes the server to abend.

   2. If you are using IBM PC/3270 for DOS and Windows, you may get a PROG750
      error if the client sessions are idle for the duration of the timeout
      value configured for NetWare for TN3270. To avoid this error, set the
      timeout value to 9999 (which indicates "no timeout").

      CAUTION: Take care when setting the timeout value to "no timeout."
      NWTN3270.NLM uses the timeout value to tell the difference between
      an idle client connection and a client connection that has terminated
      abnormally. NWTN3270.NLM holds on to client's LUs indefinitely if it
      cannot tell when a client connection failed.

      For example, if a user turns off his computer without first exiting
      the TN3270 emulator, and "no timeout" was in effect, NWTN3270.NLM
      keeps the LUs active, and they will therefore be unavailable to
      other users.

      To free those LUs, use the Hard Reset LU option from CSStatus. (See
      "Performing a Hard Reset on an LU" in Chapter 16 of the NetWare for SAA
      2.0 Administration Guide for Mainframes and Peer Nodes.)

   3. If you are using RUMBA(tm) Office for NetWare Systems from Walldata,
      turn off the options List Remote Host Files and Verify Host Screens
      when transferring either ASCII or binary files.
