CATALOG-ON-DISK HELPFUL TIPS

Network Installation
---------------------
The following instructions are for installing Catalog-on Disk to the network.
Note: If you have a Virus Scan there may be a conflict when installing Catalog-on-Disk.
Turn off the executable scan. After installing you can turn the executable scan back on.
See your user manual for the scan software instructions.

1. Install Catalog-on-Disk on the Network
2. Copy the COD.INI file, from the PC that Catalog-on-Disk was first installed, to each
Users
Windows directory.
3. Edit the COD.INI file to make sure the DataDir = the correct data directory (see example
below).
4. GIVE ALL USERS WHO ARE GOING TO BE USING CATALOG-ON-DISK SHARE,
READ AND WRITE ACCESS TO THE DIRECTORY WHERE CATALOG-ON-DISK RESIDES.
THE DIRECTORIES SHOULD INCLUDE TD200\DATA\ AND ALL FILES THAT ARE UNDER
THIS DIRECTORY. Catalog-on-Disk must be installed in the root directory of the drive TD200.
Use the default installation.

ReIndexing Error
-------------------
If you are experiencing a reindex problem with Catalog-on-Disk here
are a few details that you need to check.
1. Make sure that Catalog-on-Disk is installed correctly on to the Network
(see Network Installation)
2. If you have Act for Windows ver. 2.0, close Act down until you are
finished using Catalog-on-Disk. You will also get an error from Act for
Windows if you have Catalog-on-Disk open and try to open Act.

Note: We are currently working on a solution to the conflict between Act for Windows
and Catalog-on-Disk.

If you have version 2.05 or above, the Catalog-on-Disk will work with Act 2.0 for Windows.

Printer problems
-------------------
If you are using a HP LaserJet 4 printer and receive an error "NOT A GRAPHICAL DEVICE",
follow these steps to resolve the problem.
1. Access Catalog-on-Disk
2. Go to File from the file menu
3. Go to Print Setup
4. From Specific Printer settings, select the HP Laserjet Series II printer
5. Highlight the printer driver and choose OK

If the driver is not listed, you then must add it through Windows (see your
Windows manual for instructions)

Note: We are working on a solution to this problem.

Exporting the DBF files
--------------------------
Follow these instructions to export the entire DBF database.
(1) Access Catalog-on-Disk
(2) Go to File from the file menu
(3) Choose Export

This will put the file in an ASCII comma delimited text file format. You CANNOT export
sections of this file.

Updating Catalog-on-Disk
------------------------------
Catalog-on-Disk can be updated by a download option that is available on
Tech Data On-line. Tech Data On-line gives you complete access to current
product, pricing and availability information which can be reviewed on-line or
downloaded to your system. It also provides order entry capability and allows you
to review the status of your orders. To request access, contact your sales representative
and submit the Tech Data On-line User Agreement available through TechFAX, document
number 001200.
To update, access Tech Data On-line.
1. Select the Maintenance option from the menu bar
2. Choose the Download option The Download window will display a list of files.
3. Highlight the files you want to download, PRODCOD.EXE and UPDATE.BAT
4. Choose the RECEIVE MARKED push-button.

After the download is complete go to the TD200\Data directory and type UPDATE. When you
have updated the files, you then must reindex the files in Catalog-on-Disk the
very next time you access it.

MAX Catalog-on-Disk
--------------------------
There may be a problem with the COD.INI file. Both the MAX Catalog-on-Disk and Tech Data
Catalog-on-Disk use the same file name. If you start Catalog-on-Disk and you get an
ERROR saying file not found D:\..\..\DATA\DISCOUNT.DBF. Then you need to go
to the COD.INI file and change the DATAPATH to look at the right location.

Worksheet
-----------
The worksheet can be printed but it cannot be saved as a file.
Note: This will be changed in the future so that the Worksheet can be saved as a file.
