                                  ==========

A known compatibility issue has been discovered with browsers which send blank
credential fields in their authorization headers. When these types of browsers
send requests to the Purveyor 1.0 server, it has been known to stop serving
pages without logging any error messages, either in the Event Viewer or the
Purveyor log files.

This behavior has been seen in interactions with the NaviPress 1.0b11 software
from NaviSoft. NaviSoft has changed their software to more closely conform
with the HTTP 1.0 specifications, and the fix is now available in version
1.0b12 of NaviPress. The newer version does not send blank credential fields.

This Purveyor patch is a replacement for the Purveyor 1.0 server executable,
that will handle the case of the "blank credentials field", more gracefully.

This patch may be loaded by replacing the file HTTPS.EXE, located in your
SYSTEM32 directory (ie; WINNT35\SYSTEM32), with the file of the same name
contained in this kit. Be sure to stop Purveyor before attempting to replace
this file. Please note that by default, the READONLY attribute is placed on
the HTTPS.EXE file and will need to be removed before the file can be replaced.

This change will be incorporated into the next official release of Purveyor.
