INTRODUCTION
============

The WP1177 disk included with this Application Note contains the
Microsoft Project Converter. Microsoft Project Converter is a Windows-
based program that can be used to convert files created in other
project management software packages to a format that is compatible
with Microsoft Project 4.0 for Windows.

This program can convert files created in the following applications:

   ABT Project Workbench version 3.x
ABT Project Workbench version 1.x for Windows
   CA-SuperProject(R) version 3.0 for Windows
   Symantec(R) Time Line version 5.0
Symantec Time Line version 1.0 for Windows

To install Microsoft Project Converter
--------------------------------------

1. Quit Microsoft Project if it is running.

2. If you received a disk with this Application Note, insert the disk
in the appropriate floppy disk drive.

If you downloaded this Application Note from an online service,
skip to step 3. This procedure assumes that you have already
downloaded and extracted the compressed file.

3. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.

4. Type the following and choose OK

      <location>\setup

where <location> is the appropriate floppy disk drive or directory.
For example, if the disk is in drive A, type:

      a:\setup

Or, for example, if you downloaded the WP1177.EXE file from an
online service, and you extracted the files to a directory called
   C:\DOWNLOAD, type:

      c:\download\setup

The Setup program will copy the necessary files to your computer.

To convert project files
------------------------

For instructions on how to use Microsoft Project Converter, read the
README.WRI file that is installed to the same directory as the
Converter program when you run Setup. README.WRI contains general
instructions for converting files to Microsoft Project files and
detailed information on how the project data is translated.

NOTE: Although the Converter program itself runs only on computers
running Microsoft Windows, the converted files can be transferred to a
Macintosh(R) computer (using a transfer utility such as Apple(R) File
Exchange or Macintosh PC Exchange(R)) and opened in Microsoft Project
4.0 for the Macintosh.
