Dabbler 1.1 Windows On-Line Updater
===================================

This package updates Dabbler 1.0 to Dabbler 1.1.

Requirements:

  1. Dabbler 1.0 must already be installed on your hard drive.
Before you begin, note its path (usually C:\WINDOWS\DABBLER).

  2. When complete, you will need to re-enter your original
Dabbler 1.0 registration number. This is found on the back
of the Dabbler 1.0 install disk #1.

Instructions:

These instructions assume you have already unzipped the contents
of the on-line .ZIP file into a temporary directory.

  1. In the Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.

  2. Enter the path to your temporary directory plus \INSTALL.EXE
     (for example, C:\TEMP\INSTALL.EXE). Click OK.

  3. The updater will prompt you to enter the path to your current
Dabbler 1.0 directory (for example, C:\WINDOWS\DABBLER).

  4. Dabbler 1.0 will be replaced with Dabbler 1.1. The Dabbler 1.0
program group will be removed, and the Dabbler 1.1 icon will
be put in the "Fractal Design" group.

If you need to reinstall Dabbler in the future, you must first
install version 1.0 from the original disks. Then use this
  updater to install version 1.1.

Notes:

Dabbler 1.1 includes the following fixes and changes:

  1. The "Cannot read from drive D:" message is gone.
  2. The "Size to Fit Page" printing option has been added.
  3. The small Pen tool now works properly with the mouse or
     non-pressure sensitive tablets.
  4. Dabbler no longer crashes when clicking on the Type icon.
  5. The font list no longer falls off-screen.
  6. More font names can now be displayed in the Type Drawer.
  7. Dabbler now installs on 4 megabyte systems.

Dabbler 1.1 includes two significant improvements:

  1. We enhanced Dabbler's Natural-Media performance for mouse and
non-pressure sensitive tablets. Tools like chalk and brush,
which used to saturate the paper texture in a single stroke,
build up much slower in Dabbler 1.1, exposing the subtle
     surfaces of the paper texture.
  2. Dabbler 1.1's printing time, printing memory requirements,
and printing hard disk requirements have been drastically
     reduced.
