CLIENT:

Combined CD Volumes
-------------------
If you delete a combined CD Volume, when the media(CD-ROM) is
recreated, the assigned trustees for that media will not be
maintained.

Application Launcher
--------------------
SE-View gives you the ability to combine CD-ROMs into one
single volume and to setup applications that will launch
(automatically mounting the volume, mapping the CD-ROM, and
executing the application) from the User's Applications tab.
In order for combined volumes to map correctly, you MUST
go to the Applications Media tab, select the media, and check the
map root check box. Make sure the Map Root box is selected
(indicated by an X) by clicking on the check box. For further
information see your SCSI Express Manual.

In order to setup a Windows' application that launches from
a CD-ROM, you must insure that all information necessary to
launch the application is provided by setting the necessary
environment variables and creating an application information
sheet. Make sure that the Command Line in the application
information sheet contains all files needed to execute the
application. Place any additional files, such as resourse or
data base files, at the end of the Command Line. If multiple
files are required and are located on different drives, include
the drive letter and file path at the end of the Command Line.

Example:
Command Line: \app1.exe g:\dbase1.* h:\dbase2.*

Separate additional files by a single space.

To start, you may want to combine all of the CD-ROMs used by
one application into a single volume through the Manager's Volumes tab.
Next, select the Manager's Applications tab. Select a piece of media
from the Sources box. All *.exe and *.com files on the selected media
now appear in the Applications box. Selecting an executable file from
the Applications box places all information in an application
information sheet. Press Save to save the application information sheet.
This information is used to launch the application. The application
is now available for users.

If you want the application to run from a certain drive letter, select
the Manager's Application Media tab. From here you can assign the
application to a specific drive letter, even mapping it to the root of
the selected drive, if desired. When using a combined CD Volume,
you can select the volume from the Volumes drop-down menu and add
all of the media to the Required Media list. You can then select all
the Required Media and assign it to a single drive letter.

For more details, please see your SCSI Express Manual.

MINIMIZE SE-View When Not In Use
--------------------------------
When SE-View is maximized it will poll the net for new servers or lost
connections. When you minimize SE-View the polling stops.

CASE INSENSITIVE Media Names
----------------------------
In SE-View, you are allowed to create a media item named "insensitive"
and another media item as "INSENSITIVE". These two media items cannot
be combined in a volume until their names are changed.

SERVER:
These notes are for the Administrator and refer to file server operation.

Host Adapter Cards
------------------
The Adaptec 1520 host adapter card does not support LUNs on the SCSI bus.
This effects the devices attached to the MDI Extender card or the Pioneer
CD Changer.

CD-ROM Notes
-------------
CD Volumes:
In general: During testing, we found that some CD-ROMs failed
to mount when they were contained in a combined CD volume, but they
could be mounted successfully when they were not combined.

Auto-Mount WARNING!: Problem: Servers that contain a search
path to the DOS partition. Loading utilities or other programs
on a server with a DOS partition search path while a CD volume
is mounting can cause a hang. In most cases, a DOS search path
is not necessary or recommended. However, if a DOS search path
cannot be avoided, make it the last search path and avoid
loading programs from the DOS partition while the server is
mounting volumes. Another solution is to use the -d
option of the load cddrv [-d n ] command. Replace n with the
number of seconds you wish to delay the auto-mounting activity.
This allows the DOS partition to be searched.

NOVELL's Macintosh AFP 4.0
--------------------------
While the AFP is rebuilding the DeskTop, you CANNOT dismount a volume.
If you have just mounted a volume with MAC namespace you must wait until
the DeskTop is rebuilt before dismounting this volume. Failure to do this
will abend the server.
